Patent number: 11953264Abstract: A method of manufacturing ceramic tape includes a step of directing a tape of partially-sintered ceramic into a furnace. The tape is partially-sintered such that grains of the ceramic are fused to one another yet the tape still includes at least 10% porosity by volume, where the porosity refers to volume of the tape unoccupied by the ceramic. The method further includes steps of conveying the tape through the furnace and further sintering the tape as the tape is conveyed through the furnace. The porosity of the tape decreases during the further sintering step.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2023Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: Corning IncorporatedInventors: Michael Edward Badding, William Joseph Bouton, Jacqueline Leslie Brown, Timothy Joseph Curry, Roman E Hurny, Lanrik Wayne Kester, Thomas Dale Ketcham, John Albert Olenick, Kathleen Ritter Olenick, Jeremy Paananen, Thomas Silverblatt, Dell Joseph St Julien, Viswanathan Venkateswaran, Nathan Michael Zink

Patent number: 5546895Abstract: A pet door consisting of an opening filled by the bristles of a brush or brushes. An animal moves through the opening by pushing aside the flexible bristles, which reliably and quietly reseal the opening after the animal passes. Moving through the brushes is as natural to an animal as moving through tall grass or underbrush. The brushes perform a grooming function by removing dirt and debris from the animal's coat as it enters. The brushes have high insulating value due to the volume of air trapped among the bristles.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1995Date of Patent: August 20, 1996Inventor: Thomas E. Brown

Patent number: 4677475Abstract: A microfiche punch unit and method are disclosed. The method and apparatus assure proper alignment between the images and the binary identification tabs attached to the edge of the microfiche. In the pre-tabbing stage the microfiche is punched to create reference holes which are measured from the image grids rather than the edge of the fiche. The microfiche is "registered" (checked for alignment) by aligning the images with reference lines on the punch unit prior to punching the reference holes. During the actual tabbing, the fiche is placed over pegs added to a prior art tabbing press, to secure the fiche. The method and apparatus are ideally used in a microfiche storage/retrieval unit, such as those which are part of a digital imaging process.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 1985Date of Patent: June 30, 1987Assignee: Wang Laboratories, Inc.Inventor: Thomas E. Patent number: 4414917Abstract: There is disclosed a system incorporating aligned cylinders through which a cable is moved. The cylinders have jet nozzles connected to respective manifolds which are adapted for receiving different fluids for treating the cable. Control apparatus is provided for operating the cylinder stages simultaneously, and permitting manual selection of any one or combination of such operations. With fluid applied to all nozzles simultaneously, the cable is successively blast cleaned with water, jet dried with air, and jet lubricated with oil. Also shown is control apparatus adapted to control a motor for moving the cable through the cylinders. The air drying station includes nozzles for moving the air tangentially and from the exit to the entrance end of the air cylinder, for drying the cable and preventing water from the cleaning station from entering the drying station.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1983Date of Patent: November 15, 1983Assignee: Industrial Cleaning and Coating, Inc.Inventors: Joseph J. Patent number: 4151702Abstract: A grass catcher having a lid with downturned side flanges, and a transverse web seating on a pair of rearwardly extending handle members. An interconnecting member on the side walls of a container selectively engages guide members on the side flanges of the lid for detachably connecting the container to the lid. The guide members are upwardly facing surfaces and provide rearwardly opening tracks. The interconnecting members are laterally extending flanges received in the tracks and seating on the upwardly facing surfaces. A pair of bottom opening, longitudinal channels in the lid web receive the handle members for holding the lid on the handle members before, during and after attachment of the container to the lid. A bail is pivotally mounted to the side walls at the front of the container, the bail having a portion seating on the laterally extending container flanges in its folded position and being received in the guide tracks of the lid when the container is attached.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1977Date of Patent: May 1, 1979Assignee: The Perfection Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Thomas E.
