  • Publication number: 20080102670
Abstract: A mounting assembly for attaching an object to a rail is provided that includes a mount that is configured to mount to the rail. The mount has a first connector receiving portion. The assembly includes an object having a second connector receiving portion and a connector having a first end portion configured to be received by the first connector receiving portion and to rotate, with respect to the mount, about an axis substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rail. The connector also has a second end portion configured to be received by the second connector receiving portion and to rotate, with respect to the object, about an axis substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rail. The connector is free to rotate such that, within a range of motion, horizontal movements of the object transfer substantially no horizontal forces to the mount.

  • Publication number: 20080080948
Abstract: An attachment mount is provided to securely attach an accessory to a panel, such as a vehicle panel. The mount includes a base that may receive a rail and a toggle guide. A bolt is provided and passes through the rail, the base, and the toggle guide for attachment of a toggle at its end. The toggle may pivot or move into a insertion configuration and be pushed through an opening in a panel to which attachment is desired. Once the toggle has passed through the panel opening, a biasing element, such as a spring, may urge the toggle to move to an engaging configuration. As the bolt is rotated, the toggle may then be guided by the toggle guide and be drawn into proximity of the base and to engage the panel. Complementary structure on the base and the toggle act to deform the panel, thereby creating a strong attachment.

  • Patent number: 6547311
Abstract: A releasable and adjustable clamp-on track assembly is provided for releasably and adjustably attaching an overhead rack, or the like, to the walls of a vehicle, such as a pickup truck. The clamp-on track assembly includes a track having an elongate body mountable on the side wall of the pickup truck by a clamp member. One end of the clamp member engages the elongate body, while the opposite end of the clamp is supported by the underside of the side wall of the truck. The clamp may be slidably received within a slot formed in the elongate body so that the clamp can be positioned anywhere along the length of the track, as desired. An adjustable fastener may additionally be provided which, when tightened, secures the clamp to the underside of the side wall of the truck in order to mount the track assembly.

  • Publication number: 20030024604
Abstract: A portable work bench useful when working in confined working areas, having a track with an elongate, tubular body is disclosed. The track is supported in an elevated position by a support means. Moreover, one or more legs of the support means can include an extendable leg for use on uneven surfaces. Further, a plurality of rail members are configured and arranged on and the track, generally extending along the entire length of the track. A first sliding lock assembly comprising a sliding lock member releasably attached and slidably mounted on one or more of the rail members is provided for mounting an accessory, e.g., a power tool, thereon. A second sliding lock assembly comprising an extension assembly releasably attached and slidably mounted on one of the rail members is provided for mounting an extendable member that includes a work stop assembly and an adjustable work piece support assembly.
