  • Patent number: 4770157
Abstract: A barbeque having, for example, a heat source in the form of a gas burner, is provided with a device which permits smoke flavoring of food cooked on the barbeque. Wood chips are contained in a drawer which is received by a complementary sleeve located between the heat source and a cooking grill of the barbeque. During cooking the wood chips are heated by the heat source and the air flow through the drawer is restricted so that the wood chips give off smoke without igniting. The smoke flows about and flavors the food being cooked on the barbeque. Access to the sleeve and the wood chip drawer may be gained through a side wall of the barbeque body and thus the supply of wood chips may be replenished without interfering with the cooking operation. Means is provided to control the volume of smoke produced by the device.

  • Patent number: 4741321
Abstract: This invention provides a portable barbeque having a base and a lid hinged to one another. A pair of allochiral feet are hinged to the bottom of the base and are arranged to lock to the base when deployed to support the base so that there is little likelihood of upsetting the structure. After use, the lid is closed and the feed can be dislodged and folded over the lid to hold the lid closed against the base and to store the feet. This invention also provides a base and a lid and a heat source contained in the base with grill support means inside the base. A shelf is supported in the base and has dividers between sections of the shelf to restrain movement of inert cinders placed on the shelf. A grill also supported by the base is spaced from the shelf such that the cinders are retained by the grill on the shelf should the housing be tilted or turned upside-down.

  • Patent number: 4730771
Abstract: This invention provides a device for meeting the demand of a forced-air furnace for make-up air in a building, the make-up air being available from a duct leading from outside the building. The device takes warm air from the hot air plenum of the furnace and returns the air to the return air plenum. This flow of air is caused by a differential pressure between the two ducts when the furnace is operational and operates a valve element which normally closes the duct carrying outside air and opens to permit flow of this air in response to the passage of warm air between the hot air and return plenums.

  • Patent number: 4489015
Abstract: This invention provides a support for a tubular humidifier pad such that the pad can be replaced easily and efficiently. This is achieved by providing a support having a movable end which can be collapsed to release the pad which is carried on axial stringers attached to this end. The stingers deflect radially inwards so that the old pad can be removed over the collapsed end and a new one put in place. The procedure is then reversed to hold the pad on the support.
