    Abstract: The present invention concerns a thermal insulating element made from heat-resistant material, preferably mineral wool and especially rock wool, with this thermal insulating element capable of being inserted into a wall, ceiling or roof opening or the like, having at least one opening along a linear axis passing through the thermal insulating element. Its special characteristic is the fact that in the opening is arranged at least one pipe shell made from a winding-like, heat resistant fiber material, preferably mineral wool and especially rock wool for accommodating a hot pipe, with the fibers of this pipe shell having an essentially two-dimensional orientation in the circumferential direction of the shell.
