Publication number: 20060021202Abstract: A device, for holding a garment waistband having at least two belt loops attached at a spaced interval thereon, has a flat, elongated elastic band which is stretchable with a slight tension across the two belt loops, and a pair of fastener components, each having a fastener end and an opposite elastic-band-mounting end that is attachable to a respective end of the elastic band. In a preferred embodiment, the fastener components are formed by metal wire bent to form a back bar for the elastic-band-mounting end and a hook-loop fastener end for hooking onto a post member mounted to the elastic band. The back bar is formed in a thin channel shape defining a concave cross-sectional gap with a thickness such that it can be seated around the exposed length of the belt loop and clasp it by its thickness between the attached elastic band at the back side and the fastener component at the front side.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 30, 2004Publication date: February 2, 2006Inventor: Thomas English

Patent number: 6964069Abstract: A wave making method positions a shallow draft vessel off-shore form a shoreline of a sea in a position whereby one side of the vessel is in parallel to the shoreline. A pump is used for pumping seawater into a tank interior to the vessel. When the vessel is filled, the water is lifted to a rim of a side of the tank nearest to the shoreline to thereby dump the water in the tank over a side of the vessel. The dumped water is directed outwardly from the vessel and falls onto a submerged curved platform attached to the vessel and which extends outwardly therefrom. The platform creates a wave that moves away from the one side of the vessel toward the shoreline and is suitable for surfing.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2003Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Inventors: Anthony Thomas English, Anthony Nathaniel English

Publication number: 20050062552Abstract: In an apparatus using optically excited atomic media, such as an atomic frequency standard, a source providing a controlled emission of light for exciting the D1 and/or D2 resonance lines of an alkali gas, such as rubidium or cesium, is controlled by an output generated by digital electronics from the light intensity signal of a light sensor for light transmitted by the alkali gas, an output for representing ambient temperature, and a light intensity-ambient temperature algorithm to substantially eliminate changes in light intensity due to light source aging for the purpose of reducing changes in temperature sensitivity of the apparatus as a function of time and the light-shift contribution to the frequency aging of the standard.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 3, 2003Publication date: March 24, 2005Inventors: Jinquan Deng, Jeff Crockett, Thomas English

Patent number: 6168394Abstract: A double diaphragm pump driven by alternating charges of air includes air chambers and pump chambers to form pump cavities. Diaphragms extend across the pump cavities and are held by their periphery between the mating pump chambers and air chambers. Elbows are coupled with the pump chambers at the inlets and outlets thereof with each of the elbows being identical and including a valve cavity to receive a ball valve. Each ball valve includes a seat with a threaded portion accommodated in either the elbow when the elbow is used at the inlet or the pump chamber at the outlet. The ball valves further include a ball and a ball cage. The components are sized to insure that when the ball is fully unseated, the minimum cross-sectional flow area is at the pump outlet. Sealing surfaces are associated with the valve seat and the associated structure to receive a compressible seal. Annular bolting flanges allow components to be reoriented for particular applications.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1999Date of Patent: January 2, 2001Assignee: Wilden Pump & Engineering Co.Inventors: Eric L Forman, Greg Dearen, Thomas English
