  • Publication number: 20240170162
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for treating an inflammatory or allergic response associated with a replicating pathogen, such as a virus in the coronaviridae family. The methods include emitting an electrical impulse near a vagus nerve within the patient sufficient to inhibit or reduce an inflammatory or allergic response in the patient, provide relief for bronchoconstriction that results in the tightening of airways and the inability to breath without ventilator support and/or lessen the abnormal blot clotting that develops in some patients. The systems and methods are particularly useful for treating post-COVID conditions or post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 that develop in “long-haul” or COVID patients.

  • Publication number: 20200230408
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for treating an inflammatory or allergic response associated with a replicating pathogen, such as a virus in the coronaviridae family. The methods include emitting an electrical impulse near a vagus nerve within the patient sufficient to inhibit or reduce an inflammatory or allergic response in the patient. The systems and methods of the present invention reduce the expression of inflammatory mediators that are elevated in ARDS and other inflammatory or allergic disorders, thereby ameliorating the overactivity of the immune reaction in patient's suffering from certain disorders, such as the coronavirus. This therapy may include a feedback mechanism to provide potent anti-inflammatory benefits without the negative side effects of conventional immune suppression techniques and drugs, such as steroids and other nebulized drugs.

  • Patent number: 9517099
Abstract: A pedicle screw locking system includes a reduction tube and a locking driver. The reduction tube includes an inner shaft, a pair of grips, a reduction sleeve, and a rotatable tube. The inner shaft has a threaded end and reduction arms distally extending from the threaded end. Each grip of the pair of grips has a finger configured to engage the receiver of a pedicle screw. The reduction sleeve and the rotatable tube are disposed over and coaxially aligned with the inner shaft. The rotatable tube is coupled to the reduction sleeve. The rotatable tube moves the reduction sleeve relative to the reduction arms. The locking driver includes a threaded portion and a blunt tip. The threaded portion is configured to thread into threads in the receiver of the pedicle screw until the blunt tip locks the receiver of the pedicle screw.

  • Publication number: 20090177283
Abstract: An intervertebral spacer having opposing plates seatable against opposing vertebral bones, separated by at least one convex element, preferably a radially slotted convex element having a wide end rigidly fixed to an upper plate and a narrow end rotatably mounted to a lower plate. The lower plate includes a central post extending upwardly from the inner surface of the lower plate, the post including a head that is received in a central opening in the narrow end of the convex element so that the convex element is allowed to rotate with respect to the lower plate so that the plates can rotate relative to one another.

  • Publication number: 20070162139
Abstract: An orthopedic spacer device comprising a spacer body having an external surface that includes at least two relative angle designation marks such that a rotational angle of the spacer body relative to a known reference is determinable.

  • Publication number: 20050187627
Abstract: A porous intervertebral spacer having a flexible wire mesh as a vertebral body contact surface, the flexible wire mesh preferably being a convex titanium mesh laser-welded at its perimeter to the spacer. The mesh is domed in its initial undeflected conformation, but deflects as necessary during insertion of the spacer between vertebral bodies, and, once the spacer is seated between the vertebral bodies, deforms as necessary under anatomical loads to reshape itself to the concave surface of the vertebral endplate, providing gripping and holding strength upon initial implantation, and an osteoinductive surface through which the bone may ultimately grow, making the fixation of the spacer between the vertebral bodies secure.

  • Publication number: 20050071011
Abstract: A trial spacer kit has a plurality of trial spacers of varying heights. Each spacer includes a disc having a top surface and a bottom surface defining a height of said spacer, an annular groove formed in said disc that defines a central trunk of said spacer, the central trunk extending between the top and bottom surfaces of said spacer, a first radial flange provided at an upper end of the central trunk and a second radial flange provided at a lower end of the central trunk. The annular grooves of the spacers have a common dimension. The radial flanges of a first one of the spacers is thicker than the radial flanges of a second one of the spacers so that the first one of the spacers has a greater height than the second one of the spacers.
