    Abstract: A method of reforming a fluid to make it suitable for use as a reducing gas in a direct reduction process is provided. The method is also taught in conjunction with a specific process for which it is particularly suited. The method uses a high-temperature gas-cooled nuclear reactor as a heat source for a catalytic reformer which is coupled with a cryogenic gas separation step to remove a substantial amount of the unreacted hydrocarbon.
