  • Patent number: 5344103
Abstract: An actuating system effects rotation of wing slat and flap panels of an aircraft and includes actuators having arms rigidly mounted to the panel and allowing some wing-to-panel rotation during wing/panel bending, and actuators having arms mounted to the panel to allow angular displacement of the arms relative to the rigidly mounted arms, whereby structural deflection of the frame of the aircraft is inhibited from imposing unanticipated destructive loads on either the actuating system components or the aircraft frame itself.

  • Patent number: 5310138
Abstract: An improved actuator system is provided for safe displacement of a folding wing section of an aircraft between a folded storage position and a deployed position for normal flight operations. The actuator system comprises an electrohydraulic actuator forming part of a mechanical linkage between an outboard folding wing section and an adjacent inboard wing section. The electrohydraulic actuator is adapted to be reversibly driven either electrically or hydraulically to displace the outboard wing section, and includes an improved brake unit for automatically retaining the outboard wing section in place upon interruption of drive power input to the actuator. The actuator system further includes an improved latch pin unit adapted for electric or hydraulic powered operation to positively lock the outboard wing section in the deployed position.

  • Patent number: 5282719
Abstract: Blade pitch is changed by an actuator that is responsive to the relative rotation of two input members. Blade pitch is not changed when the members are rotated at the same speed. However, blade pitch is changed in one direction when a braking torque is applied to one member, and blade pitch is changed in an opposite direction when a braking torque is applied to the other member.

  • Patent number: 4228739
Abstract: A system for suspending the traction motor and gear box of a parallel drive arrangement in a railway truck or the like in which the gear box and traction motor shafts are flexibly coupled together to accommodate relative movement between the two shafts. In addition, an arrangement is provided by which the mounting of the motor on the railway truck accommodates lateral displacement while the coupling between the traction motor housing and the gear box accommodates angular and offset misalignment of the coupled shafts.
