  • Patent number: 5186560
Abstract: A cosmetic preparation dispenser is provided that has flex tabs formed on the lower end of the innerbody that bear against the cam sleeve to provide a desirable swivel torque, and which extend inwardly to engage or confine the elevator cup when it is fully retracted, to prevent vibration of the cup within the innerbody. Damage to a cosmetic pomade held in the cup is less likely during transport because the cup is secured. The flex tabs also minimize pomade back-off during consumer use by providing a frictional braking effect.

  • Patent number: 5186561
Abstract: A cosmetic preparation dispenser is provided that has an incremental feel created by the interaction of a resilient tab extending outwardly from the dispenser's innerbody with a plurality of rib elements provided on a surrounding wall of a cam sleeve so that the tab cams up and down on the ribs to increase and decrease resistance to relative rotation of innerbody and cam sleeve to give the desired incremental feel.

  • Patent number: 5172993
Abstract: A cosmetic container comprising a tubular base having an internally threaded lower section and an internally smooth upper section mates with a tubular rotatable sleeve extending up from the base. A tubular telescoping screw assembly has one part secured to the base and one part secured to a pomade cup keyed for rotation with the sleeve. A downward tab is formed integrally with the sleeve and has an outward nib on its lower end which presses against the smooth inner surface of the upper section of the base. The nib exerts a frictional drag on the rotation of the sleeve with respect to the base to give the operation of the container a silky "feel".

  • Patent number: 5102249
Abstract: A lipstick dispenser having a propel/retract mechanism that permits shaped pomades and shaped outer casings, without requiring excessive length to accommodate the mechanism, comprises a base, a helical spring affixed to and extending from the base, a sleeve fitted over the helical spring and having an engaged end which is rotably affixed to the base, and an elevator cup fitted into the sleeve and having an extending stem with a threaded portion for engaging with the helical spring. Relative rotation of the spring and the threaded portion caused by rotation of the base and sleeve causes axial movement of the elevator cup. During retraction of the elevator cup, the spring accumulates and is compressed in the zone of the stem between the cup and the threaded portion of the elevator cup.

  • Patent number: 5018893
Abstract: A dispenser comprises a hollow base member, and a hollow nose member, the inner wall of which is non-circular in cross-sectional shape. The nose member and base member snap fit together. A base insert fits into the base member. The base insert is sized to be retained in the base member between a shoulder on the inner wall of the base member and the lower end of the nose member when the nose member and base member are secured together. The base insert is internally screw threaded. An elevator having a screw threaded stem adapted to screw together with the base insert has an axially movable platform which is operated by rotation of the base member relative to the nose member to dispense a stick product contained in the nose member.

  • Patent number: 4991987
Abstract: An improved container for a solid cosmetic preparation is provided having a container length for containing therein a rod of cosmetic preparation mounted for axial movement back and forth through the container to either extend or retract under operator control an endmost length of the rod for being exposed through an open end of the container for dispensing therethrough. The container includes inner and outer tubular members mounted about a common longitudinal axis, the rod being mounted in the inner tubular member for the axial movement therethrough and the outer tubular member being mounted around the radially outward side of the inner tubular member. The improvement comprises the outer tubular member aditionally being movable axially with respect to the inner tubular member to enable adjustment of the container length in an axial direction to further selectively extend or retract an additional portion of the length of the rod from the opening.

  • Patent number: 4983059
Abstract: An improved cosmetic preparation dispenser is provided which comprises a hollow body forming an elongated chamber for containing the preparation therein in a shape corresponding to the chamber. A holder member is slidably mounted inside the hollow body for holding one end of the preparation while being moved along a line of travel either in a first or second direction within the hollow body to respectively extend and retract the preparation through an opening at one end of the hollow body. Means are also provided spaced along the line of travel for lockingly detaining the holder member at at least two stations spaced along the line of travel, the lockingly detaining means being releasable under operator control to permit the holder member to be moved from station to station, whereby the preparation can be lockingly retained at predetermined stations along the line of travel.

  • Patent number: 4777969
Abstract: A cosmetic compact is described which houses a cosmetic preparation and applicator means in separate compartments. The cover of the compact is rotatable about the inner container and has an elongated slot which, upon rotation of the cover, is adapted to register with the receptacle containing the cosmetic preparation. Stimultaneously, an aperture in the cover registers with a corresponding opening in the compartment in which an applicator is stored and permits the latter to be released by appropriate tilting or like maneuvering of the compact. After use the applicator is returned to the storage compartment and the cover is rotated to return the compact to the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4690578
Abstract: The invention contemplates a cosmetic-container of the propel-repel variety wherein all parts are assembled and retained by interference-fit and wherein metal-to-plastic interfaces characterize essentially all siding engagements. The arrangement is such as to provide a luxury "feel" through controlled drag torque (resistance) to relative rotation of the parts. And provision is made to positively retain any retracted position of the pomade carrier, whatever the remaining useful extent of involved pomade.
