  • Patent number: 4489924
Abstract: A quick-set hydraulic work holding clamping table assembly including an elongated stationary rigid base member having a front control portion, a pair of stationary transversely spaced flat lateral platen sections flanking an elongated dovetail slide channel, an elongated slide plate member shaped to slidably interfit in the slide channel having its top surface lying in the same common plane as the top surface of the lateral platen sections and forming a movable center platen section. The slide plate member is moved forwardly and rearwardly by a manually operable drive screw coupled to the slide plate member and hydraulic power means are connected to the drive screw for rapidly moving the slide plate member relative to the lateral platen sections to move workpiece engaging jaw pieces to the gripping position responsive to application of fluid pressure to the power means.

  • Patent number: 4438911
Abstract: A quick set hydraulic work holding vise comprising an elongated stationary base plate member, a front stationary jaw fixed to the base plate member at a front end thereof and a rear jaw movable toward and away from the stationary jaw slidably movable along an elongated slide plate member supported for limited movement longitudinally. The slide member has an upwardly facing helical screw threaded channel and the movable jaw carries an interrupted worm screw interlocking device to interfit with the screw threads of the channel for locking the movable jaw longitudinally, which can then be locked against raising or skewing by tightening screw to compress the jaw on the slide plate member. A hydraulic piston is connected to the slide plate member for rapidly moving it and the movable jaw thereon to the gripping position.

  • Patent number: 4298195
Abstract: A quick set hydraulically actuated clamping table assembly including a base supporting at least one pair of companion flat horizontal platens movable toward and away from each other having apertures for variably fixing jaw pieces thereon for holding workpieces thereon of various shapes. A pair of laterally adjacent elongated slide plates are located beneath and fixed respectively to the platens for sliding guided contact with the base and have shaped cam follower recesses in adjacent confronting edges receiving a pair of semi-cylindrical bearing segment members and a pair of shaped bearings abutting flat faces of the segment members.

  • Patent number: 4251065
Abstract: A quick set hydraulic workholding vise including a fore-and-aft longitudinal elongated base having a front stationary jaw and a rear jaw movable toward and away from the stationary jaw. The movable jaw is interfitted on a slide plate for sliding movement of the movable jaw to coarse adjustment spacing slightly larger than the corresponding dimension of the work portion to be received between the jaws and the slide plate extends centrally along substantially the length of the base and is movable through a limited predetermined range relative to the base between a forward gripping position and a rearward release position for the movable jaw. Compound wedge means are provided for releasibly gripping opposite side portions of the slide plate and clamping the movable jaw at the coarse adjustment position, and hydraulic power means rapidly move the slide plate and the movable jaw to the forward gripping position. The slide plate and movable jaw are spring returned to said rearward release position.

  • Patent number: 4234177
Abstract: A differential screw device is disclosed including a first member having a threaded bore therein, a rod having a first threaded portion threadably engageable with the threaded bore in the first member and having a second threaded portion with threads of smaller pitch than the first threaded portion, a second member having a threaded bore therein threadingly engageable with the second threaded portion of the rod, a torsion spring fixed at one end to the rod and fixed at the opposite end thereof to the second member, and a means for rotating said second member relative to said first member thereby causing the first member to move relative to the second member until resistance is encountered which is equal to the torque of the torsion spring at which time the smaller pitch of the second threaded portion will rotate relative to the second member to reduce the rate of movement of the second member relative to the first member for a given rate of rotation of the second member.
