  • Patent number: 6794362
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a composition which is used to enhance the elasticity and/or appearance of tissue. Specifically, the present invention is directed to a composition formulated from peptides or peptide-like compounds having low molecular weights and which substantially correspond to sequences found in elastin. The present composition specifically includes chemical modification of the peptides described herein, specifically carboxy and amino modification including the addition of amino acids to either end of the peptide fragments.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 30, 2000
Date of Patent: September 21, 2004
    Assignee: Connective Tissue Imagineering LLC
Inventors: Lawrence B. Sandberg, Thomas F. Mitts, Felipe Jimenez, Jr.
  • Patent number: 6777389
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a composition and method for enhancing the appearance of skin or tissue. The invention is preferably a combination of elastin-derived peptides and steroidal compounds useful in the treatment of problems associated with deficient elastin or conditions that would benefit from increased elastin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 19, 1999
Date of Patent: August 17, 2004
    Assignee: Connective Tissue Imagineering LLC
Inventors: Thomas F. Mitts, Lawrence B. Sandberg, Philip J. Roos
  • Patent number: 6506731
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a composition which is used to enhance the elasticity and/or appearance of tissue. Specifically, the present invention is directed to a composition formulated from peptides having low molecular weights and which substantially correspond to sequences found in elastin More preferably, the present invention corresponds to the general formula R1-Leucine-Glycine-Alanine-Glycine-Glycine-Alanine-Glycine-R2.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 30, 2000
Date of Patent: January 14, 2003
    Assignee: Connective Tissue Imagineering LLC
Inventors: Lawrence B. Sandberg, Thomas F. Mitts
  • Patent number: 6069129
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a formulation or composition which is used to enhance the softness, elastin, or appearance of tissue by increasing the endogenous elastin production. Specifically, the present invention is directed to a composition formulated from the products of thermolysin digestion which are filtered through a 10,000 molecular weight cutoff device, which may be dried to have a formulation which contains 90% or greater of peptides having a molecular weight lower than 10,000 Da. This formulation is preferably applied to human skin in a cosmetic or therapeutic formulation and results in enhanced elasticity of the skin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 13, 1998
Date of Patent: May 30, 2000
    Assignee: MRS, LLC
Inventors: Lawrence B. Sandberg, Philip J. Roos, Thomas F. Mitts
