Patent number: 6039266Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing volatile components of an air treating gel, which stabilizes an emanating surface of an emanating face of an enclosed air treating gel, that is structurally simple and relatively easy to manufacture. The emanating surface of the gel attaches to a grille of an aperture member fast within and adjacent a major opening of the dispenser. The aperture member is designed to support the emanating surface continuously throughout the dispensation of the volatile components and may be sized to provide vacuum relief to a bottom surface of the enclosed gel. Accordingly, the emanating surface is replenished from a reservoir of gel within the dispenser while remaining supported by the aperture member.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1998Date of Patent: March 21, 2000Assignee: Wessel Fragrances, Inc.Inventor: Thomas F. Santini

Patent number: 5060858Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing volatile products present in a gel in which the gel is anchored to the dispenser throughout the perimeter of an emanating surface of the gel from which the volatile products are dispensed. The emanating surface is replenished from a reservoir of gel within the dispenser while the emanating surface remains substantially stable and free of shrinkage as a result of its anchorage to the container. The anchoring means may be a porous material or appropriately shaped flanges and openings adjacent the emanating surface in the structure of the dispenser.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1990Date of Patent: October 29, 1991Assignee: Wessel Fragrances, Inc.Inventor: Thomas F. Patent number: 4809912Abstract: A method for the fabrication of a continuous action reservoir type air freshening device is described. The device is characterized by the use of an evaporation rate controlling porous membrane which is in intimate contact and completely covers the exposed surface of an erodible gel-type of solid perfume composition. The fragranced gel is enclosed in a container, one end of which is open and over which is affixed the porous membrane. One side of this membrane is exposed to the atmosphere; the other side intimately contacts the solid reservoir consisting of the fragrance gel. Transmission of the volatile fragrance and carrier agents to the surrounding environment through the porous membrane matrix occurs as a function of an evaporative process. The membrane permits only a limited penetration, if any by the gel solution, i.e. in the liquid state, but is sufficiently permeable to the gel solution to establish physical attachment between the solidified gel and the membrane.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1987Date of Patent: March 7, 1989Assignee: deLaire, Inc.Inventor: Thomas F. Santini

Patent number: 4419326Abstract: A vapor dispersing device in which evaporative dispersion of volatile and diffusive components of an air treating agent is regulated over an extending period by the use of a container, for the agent, into which at least one rigid porous wick extends to transfer the agent from the container to a porous plastic element from the surface of which dispersion of the agent will occur by means of evaporation, the surface of the element being impregnated with an occluding agent, the evaporation rate of which is chosen, relative to rate of deposition on non-volatile components of the air treating agent in the element, to result in an even dispersion rate over a desired operating period.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1982Date of Patent: December 6, 1983Assignee: De Laire, Inc.Inventor: Thomas F. Santini
