  • Patent number: 5578557
Abstract: A food grade compressor oil for use in a high pressure compressor includes a base oil, an N-acyl derivative of the amino acid sarcosine, an imidazoline, and an amine-phosphate. Each of the three additives comprises no more than 0.5% by weight of the oil composition, and results in high lubricity and very low corrosion even when water is present in the oil. The compressor oil may also include polybutene which serves as a thickener, and an antioxidant. The compressor oil of this invention is particularly well suited for use in a hypercompressor used in the manufacture of polyethylene.

  • Patent number: 5154840
Abstract: The present invention provides an environmentally friendly grease composition. The base components of this lubricating composition include a white mineral oil in the amount of about 65 to about 85% by weight based on total weight of the composition, an extreme pressure additive comprising a solid friction modifier in an amount of about 1 to about 20 wt %, a thickener and a minor amount of one or more oil dispersible additives in amounts sufficient to enhance the performance characteristics of the greases. Each of the extreme pressure additive, thickener, and the one or more oil dispersible additives is essentially free of heavy metals, particularly arsenic, antimony, barium, cadmium, chromium, copper, iron, lead, mercury, molybdenum, nickel, selenium, vanadium and zinc. The greases of the present invention meet or exceed the EPA acceptance standards in effect during 1991 which are defined by the static sheen test and the 96-hour Mysidopsis bahia (shrimp) tests for offshore and inland water use.

  • Patent number: 5098556
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for removing RCS from off-spec white mineral oil prepared by catalytic hydrogenation by filtering the off-spec white mineral oil through a bleaching clay, such as a smectite clay, particularly an acid treated montmorillonite clay, such as bentonite or attapulgite.

  • Patent number: 4306985
Abstract: Hydrocracked lubricating oils are effectively stabilized against deterioration caused by light by the inclusion of at least one of each of certain nitrogen-containing aromatic components and phenolic components. The combination of such components, e.g., dialkyl anilines and alkyl substituted phenols, provide outstanding inhibition to sunlight deterioration.
