Patent number: 10293740Abstract: A motor vehicle headlight and method for operating the headlight is disclosed, wherein the headlight is operated in a main beam mode or in a partial main beam node. A light distribution of the main beam of the headlight is adapted as a function of a course of a road which is being traveled along by the motor vehicle. In addition, a motor vehicle headlight is described.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2015Date of Patent: May 21, 2019Assignee: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLCInventors: Frank Langkabel, Rouven Haberkorn, Philipp Roeckl, Thomas Feid, Justus Illium, Michael Rabe, Ingolf Schneider, Isabell Woelfelschneider

Patent number: 9764683Abstract: A headlamp device for a motor vehicle includes a segmented light source, which has individually deactivatable light source segments for generating a glare-free main beam with the aid of an automatic dimming system. The headlamp device is configured such that one or more regions in the main beam distribution of the headlamp device can be suppressed selectively by deactivating individual light source segments. Each light source segment in the activated state lights up a main beam segment region with a respectively preset width in the main beam distribution of the headlamp. The width of the main beam segment region is preset in the main beam segment region depending on an expected average dynamic of objects to avoid dazzling under normal traffic conditions.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2016Date of Patent: September 19, 2017Assignee: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLCInventors: Justus Illium, Thomas Feid, Rouven Haberkorn, Ingolf Schneider, Michael Bang

Patent number: 9616804Abstract: A method for adjusting the lighting range of a headlamp in a motor vehicle, is performed with the following steps. A first coordinateis acquired that corresponds to a position of the motor vehicle. At least one image of a camera connected with the motor vehicle is evaluated so as to acquire a second coordinate that corresponds to the position of an object on a roadway in the zone ahead of the motor vehicle. A reference angle is calculated for the motor vehicle from the first coordinate, the second coordinate and a height of the camera over the roadway. The lighting range of the headlamp is adjusted based on the reference angle.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2014Date of Patent: April 11, 2017Assignee: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLCInventors: Philipp Roeckl, Frank Langkabel, Ingolf Schneider, Thomas Feid
