  • Patent number: 10194877
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating X-ray pulses during X-ray imaging. A high voltage of an X-ray tube is automatically switched off. The tube voltage decays and upon reaching a predefined threshold value of the tube voltage or a predefined waiting time after switching off the high voltage, a grating voltage of a grating arranged between an emitter and an anode of the X-ray tube is automatically switched on. No electrons reach the anode from the emitter, and the tube current drops to the value zero.

Date of Patent: February 5, 2019
    Assignee: Siemens Healthcare GmbH
Inventors: Philipp Bernhardt, Thomas Ferger, Markus Schild, Kai-Uwe Taubenreuther, Mathias Kraus

  • Patent number: 9673592
Abstract: An x-ray tube includes a vacuum housing. A cathode and an anode are disposed in the vacuum housing and insulated by at least one insulation element. Upon application of a high voltage, the cathode emits electrons that strike the anode as an electron beam. A voltage arrester device with an insulation path has a field strength that is higher than a field strength at the insulation element. If a voltage flashover occurs, the voltage is discharged via the voltage arrester device.

Date of Patent: June 6, 2017
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft

  • Publication number: 20120281815
Abstract: An x-ray tube has an evacuated, rotatable housing in which are arranged a cathode designed to emit an electron beam and an anode interacting with this cathode, and two quadrupole magnet systems arranged outside of the housing and spaced apart from one another that are provided to influence the electron beam.

  • Patent number: 8232714
Abstract: A cathode has a cathode head in which is arranged at least one emitter that emits electrons upon application of a heating voltage. At least one series resistor is connected in the voltage feed to at least one emitter. The use of such a cathode in an x-ray tube enables x-ray exposures with a high quality.
