  • Patent number: 9327332
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to provide a method for controlling the flow of material when deep-drawing a workpiece, which better utilizes the drawing capacity of a workpiece and produces a better shape accuracy, particularly of the bottom of the drawn part. The aim is achieved by a method in which the deep-drawing process is performed incrementally and in which at least one bead is incorporated into the flange region of the workpiece prior to each increment of the deep-drawing process. Due to this, the shape accuracy of the bottom can be improved and material accumulations in the flange zone can be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20160114366
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus for the continuous and progressive shaping of metal strips to produce a formed metal strip whose cross sectional dimensions vary along a longitudinal axis thereof. The apparatus includes a device for shaping the metal strips, wherein the device has at least one tool set with at least two rotatably mounted and mutually associated tools, wherein the tools each have a pressure face disposed along an outer circumference thereof with a contour configured to shape the workpieces. The contour of the pressure face of at least one tool is not axially symmetric. In order to be able to cost-effectively produce workpieces or profiles with a variable cross section, in particular profiles with a closed cross section, it is proposed that the contours of the pressure faces of all tools, but at least of one tool set, are concave in order to generate a profile having a closed cross section.

  • Publication number: 20160067757
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing highly dimensionally accurate, deep-drawn half shells having a bottom region, a jacket and optionally having a flange, wherein a half shell pre-formed from a blank is formed into a finished half shell, wherein the pre-formed half shell has excess blank material on account of its geometrical shape, and the half shell being upset by way of at least one pressing operation in an upsetting tool to form the finished half shell during the forming of the pre-formed half shell into its finished shape on account of the excess blank material. The object of specifying a method and an apparatus, by way of which the process reliability can be increased during the production of a half shell, is achieved by way of the abovementioned method by virtue of the fact that the size of the upset gap is reduced during the closing of the upsetting tool to the actual wall thickness of the jacket of the pre-formed half shell.

  • Patent number: 8833128
Abstract: A method for producing slit hollow profiles from a cut blank is provided, in which the hollow profile is produced from the essentially flat blank using rolling-up technology or using U-O-forming, so that the hollow profile has a slit in the axial direction along the abutting edges of the formed blank. Highly dimensionally stable, slit hollow profiles can be produced which can be easily joined to form closed hollow profiles, is achieved by the cut blank providing a circumferential length in the locally provided cross-sectional areas which is greater than the required forming length, so that when the cut blank is formed into a closed hollow profile the opposite edges of the formed cut blank abut on one another and when it is formed into the final shape at least the areas of the hollow profile abutting on the edge joint are at least partly compressed in the circumferential direction.
