  • Patent number: 10134974
Abstract: A method for identifying an overcurrent when charging a piezo actuator, by periodically connecting and disconnecting the piezo actuator to and from an energy source via a charging coil. A connection is followed by a disconnection when the charging current has reached a prescribed maximum current value and a minimum switched-on time has elapsed, and a connection is effected again when either a prescribed minimum current value has been reached or a maximum switched-off time has elapsed. An overcurrent is identified when a disconnection is effected when the minimum switched-on time has elapsed and the charging current has previously reached or exceeded a prescribed maximum current value. An overcurrent is also identified when, after a disconnection on account of the prescribed maximum current value having been reached, a connection is effected again when the maximum switched-off time has elapsed without the minimum current value having been reached.

  • Publication number: 20180100761
Abstract: An apparatus monitors physical signals, such as vibration, produced by an asset, such as a motor. Sensor signals corresponding to the physical signals are applied to a bandpass Görtzel filter that passes a frequency band around a characteristic frequency of a physical signal. An analyzer produces information corresponding to the physical condition of the asset based on the Görtzel filtered signal. A tracking unit periodically updates parameters of the Görtzel filter so that the bandpass frequencies of the Görtzel filter track the characteristic frequency of the physical signal. Each Görtzel filter may include a comb filter whose output is applied to a plurality of resonators, whose outputs are applied to a windowing unit. The Görtzel filter is preferably a Görtzel filter block that is made up of a plurality of individual Görtzel filters.

  • Publication number: 20160312676
Abstract: A method and apparatus to reduce emissions by gas membrane separation and liquid carrier chemical absorption. The membrane separation system consists of an absorption system containing ceramic membranes through which is circulated an absorbent carrier. Exhaust gases contact the exterior surface of the membranes and the target gasses permeate the membrane wall and are absorbed by the carrier(s) within the bore and thereby are removed from the exhaust stream. Various exemplary embodiments are described for systems to regenerate the carrier, and systems designed to remove SO2 from the exhaust. One option uses an electrostatic charger to place a charge on the gas particles, while another uses a corona generator. In this aspect, the invention is also an improved electrostatic and corona separator, that uses a carrier liquid separated from the gas stream by a membrane to bear away undesirable particles instead of a deposit or collection plate or collection bag or similar device.
