    Abstract: A mortar composition for molding, casting or rendering purposes includes: (a) mixture comprising 1.5 to 8 parts by volume of powdered stone and one part by volume of powdered mica based on the total parts by volume of the composition; and (b) a binder therefore. The binder is preferably a hydraulic cement such as Portland cement. An artificial stone may be produced by coating a substrate, such as concrete, with the mortar composition.
