  • Publication number: 20160187315
Abstract: A method is provided for determining the condition or quality of a product. The method involves adding to the product a taggant in which the taggant exhibits degradation in response to one or more stimuli; carrying out an immunoassay specific for the taggant to determine degradation of the taggant; and determining the condition of the product based on the degradation of the taggant. A method is provided for monitoring degradation or quality of a product. The method involves adding to the product a taggant in which the taggant exhibits degradation in response to one or more stimuli; and carrying out an immunoassay specific for the taggant to determine degradation of the taggant. The method further involves identifying the condition of the product based on the degradation of the taggant. Lubricating engine oils are provided containing the taggant.

  • Publication number: 20160187314
Abstract: A method is provided that associates a taggant with a product to produce a signature product. The taggant, when associated with the signature product, is visually undetectable; and comprises one or more amide compounds (e.g., a taggant array that comprises two or more amide compounds). The method also identifies the taggant in the signature product by an immunoassay specific for the taggant; maps the taggant of the signature product to a batch code of the signature product; obtains a test product to determine authenticity or identity of the test product; identifies the presence or absence of a taggant in the test product by an immunoassay specific for the taggant; and compares results of the immunoassay carried out on the test product with results of the immunoassay carried out on the signature product to determine authenticity or identity of the test product. Lubricating engine oils are provided containing the taggant.

  • Patent number: 8299007
Abstract: A method of improving air release is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining a lubricant comprising two base stocks. The first base stock comprises a viscosity greater than 100 cSt, Kv100° C. The second base stock comprises a viscosity less than 10 cSt, Kv100° C. In addition, a lubricant formulation and method of blending a lubricant formulation is also disclosed. The lubricant formulation comprises at least two base stocks. At least 5 percent and no more than 90 percent of a first base stock comprising oil with a viscosity greater than 300 cSt, Kv100° C. At least 5 percent and no more than 90 percent of a second base stock comprising oil with a viscosity less than 10 cSt, Kv100° C.

  • Patent number: 5391313
Abstract: A refrigerator working fluid which comprises(a) tetrafluoroethane, and(b) a synthetic ester lubricant with a viscosity of about 150 cSt or less at 40.degree. C. and having the formula (R.sub.1 -R.sub.2).sub.n R.sub.3wherein R.sub.1 is ##STR1## in which R.sub.5, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 are each independently hydrocarbyl group of from 1 to 7 carbon atoms with the proviso that the sum of carbon atoms in R.sub.5 +R.sub.6 +R.sub.7 is from 3 to 9,R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of (CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --O--).sub.b, ##STR2## and mixtures thereof, where b is an integer from 1 to 3, R.sub.3 is a monobasic or polybasic carboxylic acid radical of the formula ##STR3## where R.sub.4 is a hydrocarbyl group having m carbon atoms where m is an integer from 1 to 9, andn is an integer from 1 to 4.
