  • Publication number: 20240238856
Abstract: A method of characterizing at least one rotational and at least one linear eccentricity modes of a wall thickness of a seamless pipe induced during a manufacturing process of the seamless pipe. The method comprises the steps of measuring a wall thickness profile along and around a length of the seamless pipe using a ultrasound-based measurement tool; applying a Fourier transform to the wall thickness profile to obtain a frequency spectrum; identifying one or more amplitude peaks in the frequency spectrum; associating each amplitude peak to a corresponding one of the at least one rotational eccentricity modes; filtering the one or more amplitude peaks out of the frequency spectrum; applying an inverse Fourier transform to the frequency spectrum to obtain a filtered wall thickness profile; and modeling the filtered wall thickness profile into a radial profile of the seamless pipe representative of the at least one linear eccentricity modes.

  • Publication number: 20230160856
Abstract: Methods and systems for inspecting a weld area between a first and a second metallic sheet are provided an acoustic wave is generated in the first metallic sheet for propagation towards the second metallic sheet, across the weld area. A weld quality indicator is obtained. In some variants, the weld quality indicator is obtained from a comparison of first and second sheet time-varying signals representative of a surface motion in the first and second metallic sheets. In some variants, the weld quality indicator is based on the frequency-dependent attenuation of the acoustic wave in the second metallic sheet.

  • Patent number: 9181596
Abstract: The disclosure concerns a method for treating a material in a static magnetic field having an intensity of more than 1 Tesla, including the following steps: a first step to heat the material, a second step to apply to the material a thermal shock and/or thermomechanical treatment and/or chemical treatment, wherein during at least the second treatment step, the material is subjected to the magnetic field while being held in position within the magnetic field. The disclosure also concerns a device for implementing the method, the device including: a support to hold the material during the steps of the cycle, a device to apply the static magnetic field capable of generating a magnetic field of intensity higher than 1 Tesla, a first system allowing heating of the material, a second system for implementing the subsequent step of the cycle.
