  • Publication number: 20190255913
Abstract: A cabin heating system includes an exhaust heat exchanger having a cabin air conduit. That cabin air conduit includes a check valve, a pressure relief valve and a heat exchange section between the check valve and the pressure relief valve. The cabin heating system also includes a control module configured to maintain cabin air in the cabin air conduit at a first pressure P1 while exhaust gas in an exhaust bypass has a second pressure P2 where P1>P2.

  • Publication number: 20190255912
Abstract: A cabin heating system includes a cabin air heat exchanger, an exhaust gas heat exchanger and a heat transfer loop. The heat transfer loop circulates a gaseous heat exchange fluid between the cabin air heat exchanger and the exhaust gas heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 6550434
Abstract: A method for selecting which intake valves are operated in an internal combustion with intake valves operated by more than one type of actuation device is disclosed. A criterion for selecting which valves to operate is energy consumed in operating the valvetrain.

  • Patent number: 6532944
Abstract: A fuel vapor recovery method and system are disclosed for an engine with a hybrid valvetrain, in which the intake valves are actuated by more than one type of device. Normal fuel vapor recovery purging relies on a depression in intake manifold pressure to cause the flow of purge gases through the fuel vapor recovery system and into the intake manifold. As the hybrid valvetrain engine is unthrottled over much of the engine operating map, purging the fuel vapor recovery system requires decreasing the intake manifold pressure to allow a purge condition. Making a transition to a condition with a depressed manifold pressure is the subject herein.

  • Patent number: 6513493
Abstract: A system and a method to control air flow during a transition in an internal combustion engine, in which intake valves are operated by more than one type of actuation device, is disclosed. Based on demanded engine torque, engine speed and transition type, throttle position and closing time of a randomly operable intake valve are determined such that a smooth transition can be accomplished.

  • Patent number: 6470853
Abstract: A method and system for controlling intake valves in an internal combustion with intake valves operated by more than one type of actuation device includes defining operating modes of the intake valve and mapping these onto engine torque and engine speed operating regions. Torque control within regions and steps to accomplish smooth transitions among regions are defined.
