Abstract: Disclosed is a device and a method for disposal of occupant protection devices/road user protection devices with a pyrotechnic igniter, by which both a reliable disposal of the device as well as a stable/malfunction-free placing of the device in operation can be ensured with implemented disposal capabilities/disposal routines (protection from faulty activations in the event of simple errors).

Abstract: The disclosed method relates to a procedure for deactivating a pyrotechnical actuator (10) from a vehicle. A diagnostics mode of a control unit (14) of the pyrotechnical actuator (10) is activated using a diagnostics unit (12). Accordingly, a disposal mode in the control unit (14) is then activated and the pyrotechnical actuator (10) is fired in this mode.

Abstract: A vehicle safety system including an air bag operating unit and at least one sensor component. The vehicle safety system, in a simple and reliable fashion, ensures that signals coming from the at least one sensor component are supplied to a control unit for an air bag such that the current status of a vehicle occupant may be reliably ascertained. The air bag operating unit is preferably fitted with a digital microprocessor. The air bag operating unit is preferably connected with the at least one sensor component via a transmission line, and the at least one sensor component repeatedly transmits to the air bag operating unit digital information at predetermined time intervals. The digital information is indicative of the status of the vehicle occupant.

The system comprises a shunt switch arranged in parallel to the acceleration switch and which is adapted to be closed owing to activation of the acceleration switch.

Abstract: The inflatable safety cushion for a vehicle comprises an electric arming device (19) which is capable of detecting a dangerous situation and of very rapidly actuating a pyrotechnic gas generator for triggering said safety cushion, and which is powered by a cell (12). It also comprises an arming device (20, 21) for detecting that the vehicle is being used in order automatically to arm the device (19) as soon as it is detected that the vehicle is being used, and a device (21a) for interrupting the armed state as soon as, for a predetermined length of time, no use of the vehicle has been detected.
