    Abstract: A solid bed adsorptive process for separating a seed oil into two substantially pure triglyceride fractions. The process involves contacting a seed oil, such as castor oil, preferably as a concentrate, with an adsorbent in a bed, the adsorbent having a particle size greater than about 40 microns, and thereafter contacting the adsorbent with a desorbent material, preferably under minimal flow conditions, to obtain a raffinate output stream containing predominantly a second triglyceride and an extract output stream containing predominantly a first triglyceride. Purified fatty acid triglyceride esters obtainable from castor, vernonia, and lesquerella plant oils provide renewable, non-petroleum-based sources of chemical feedstocks.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a holster for a weapon such as a handgun which includes a body defining a cavity for receiving and holding the weapon, a hood assembly pivotably connected to the body, the hood assembly pivotable between a closed position for securing the weapon within the body cavity and an open position for removal of the weapon, a locking means securing the hood assembly in the closed position when a weapon is held in the body cavity, a release means associated with the locking means for releasing the hood assembly to the open position for removal of the weapon, and means for automatically pivoting the hood assembly to the closed position and thereby automatically engaging the locking means upon insertion of the weapon into the body cavity, wherein the locking means is biased to a locked configuration when the weapon is held in the body cavity.

    Abstract: The invention is a condensation polymerization reaction in which functionally terminated polybenzazole ligomers are reacted in a solvent acid at a temperature of at least 150.degree. C. and a shear of at least about 10 sec..sup.-1 under conditions so that the desired molecular weight is reached in no more than about 4 hours. The oligomers may be, for example, derived from the reaction of 4,6-diaminoresorcinol bis(hydrochloride) and terephthalic acid. The concentration of oligomers is high enough so that the reaction mixture contains liquid crystalline domains.

    Abstract: It is advantageous to prepare oligomers of polybenzazole polymers by reaction of AA-PBZ monomer with an excess of BB-PBZ monomer. The resulting oligomer dopes may be stored at a temperature at which they remain pumpable until such time as the dope can be advanced to higher molecular weight by adding additional AA-PBZ monomer. The molecular weight of the polymer may be adjusted by controlling the amount of chain extender and/or chain terminator added to oligomer mixtures as they are advanced to final molecular weight.
