  • Publication number: 20130090803
Abstract: A method for validating information, wherein a first information item is detected essentially continuously, at least for the duration of its relevance, by a vehicle-to-X communication device, wherein a second information item is detected at the same time as the first information item by at least an individual sensor or a group of sensors, wherein the at least one individual sensor or the group of sensors is coupled at the data level to the vehicle-to-X communication device and wherein the first and/or second information items are validated by reconciling an information content of the first and second information items in the case of corresponding information content. The method is distinguished by the fact that the second information item is detected in an essentially discontinuous fashion.

  • Patent number: 8401758
Abstract: A method for assisting an operator of a vehicle which is approaching a set of traffic lights which permits a stop line to be crossed in at least one first operating state and does not permit the stop line to be crossed in a second operating state. The method provides that (i) a signal which describes the current operating state of traffic lights and the time period until the operating state changes is received in the vehicle, (ii) in the vehicle, verification is carried out on the basis of the received signal as to whether the vehicle can reach the stop line at a speed from a predefined speed range while the set of traffic lights is in the first operating state, and (iii) a speed of the vehicle is influenced and/or a recommendation for influencing the speed is generated as a function of the result of the verification.

  • Publication number: 20120268293
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for a vehicle to communicate with another vehicle or with an infrastructure device which has a particular range which is dependent on the current position of the vehicle. In order to ensure correct operation of the communication, the range to be expected for the communication is derived inter alia from the nature of the surroundings, which is dependent on the current position of the vehicle. The invention also relates to an appropriate apparatus for communication.

  • Publication number: 20120220231
Abstract: By reducing the packet size for C2X data transmission, it is possible to increase the transmission range and the number of transmitted data packets per unit time. By way of example, only component information items are transmitted, which can be converted into a full information item by the receiver using supplementary information items that come from a different source. In order to obtain the full information items, it is possible to utilize firstly transmission properties of the radio medium and secondly common information bases as determined by the system.

  • Patent number: 8223037
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for warning of emergency vehicles in emergency service. The emergency vehicles use vehicle-to-vehicle communication to transmit warning messages which are received by other vehicles and are indicated to the driver of the receiving vehicle. In order to allow rapid orientation of the driver, provision is made for the warning message from the emergency vehicle to have a position statement for the emergency vehicle and for the position statement to be evaluated in the vehicle which receives the warning message, wherein the position of the emergency vehicle is indicated relative to the position of the receiving vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20120131084
Abstract: The present invention describes a method for associating new data with a digital map which is available, preferably locally, in a vehicle, having the following steps: at least one new data value is received from a transmitter which is an element of a vehicle-to-vehicle communication and/or a vehicle-to-infrastructure communication, the new data value is compared with the existing data values from the digital map, and the new data value is added to the digital map or the existing data values are updated with the new data value, in each case on the basis of the result of the comparison. The specified method is used for improving the digital map material. The invention also describes a device for associating new data with a reception device and with a computation device.

  • Publication number: 20110047338
Abstract: A self-learning map or a device for creating and storing a digital map for a transport unit on the basis of environmental sensors, vehicle-to-X communication and satellite navigation systems. The self-learning map and device create and store the digital map without the use of data from navigation maps. The obtained digital map is iteratively improved and can be used for the validity check of an existing digital map for a driver assistance system.

  • Publication number: 20110022247
Abstract: A method for the open-loop and closed-loop control of traffic flow by means of the automatic takeover of the longitudinal control a vehicle by a driver assistance system. First, the method detects the occurrence of a special situation. Then, a driver assistance system automatically takes over the longitudinal control of the vehicle. When the special situation ends, the driver regains the control over the vehicle, which he had before the activation of the driver assistance system.
