  • Publication number: 20230409336
Abstract: In accordance with described techniques for VLIW Dynamic Communication, an instruction that causes dynamic communication of data to at least one processing element of a very long instruction word (VLIW) machine is dispatched to a plurality of processing elements of the VLIW machine. A first count of data communications issued by the plurality of processing elements and a second count of data communications served by the plurality of processing elements are maintained. At least one additional instruction is determined for dispatch to the plurality of processing elements of the VLIW machine based on the first count and the second count. For example, an instruction that is independent of the instruction is determined for dispatch while the first count and the second count are unequal, and an instruction that is dependent on the instruction is determined for dispatch based on the first count and the second count being equal.

  • Patent number: 11816490
Abstract: VLIW directed Power Management is described. In accordance with described techniques, a program is compiled to generate instructions for execution by a very long instruction word machine. During the compiling, power configurations for the very long instruction word machine to execute the instructions are determined, and fields of the instructions are populated with the power configurations. In one or more implementations, an instruction that includes a power configuration for the very long instruction word machine and operations for execution by the very long instruction word machine is obtained. A power setting of the very long instruction word machine is adjusted based on the power configuration of the instruction, and the operations of the instruction are executed by the very long instruction word machine.

  • Publication number: 20230355374
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a tendon repair anchor. An anchor plug is inserted into an anchor receptacle seated in a bone of a graft recipient. Sloped protrusions on the anchor plug interact with protrusions in the anchor receptacle to secure the anchor plug within the anchor receptacle and generally allow movement in a direction that more tightly secures the tendon graft to the bone. By allowing such unidirectional movement, slack in the sutures that secure the tendon graft to the anchor plug will not prevent the tendon graft from being properly positioned relative to the bone. Proper placement of the tendon graft allows for better healing and improves the likelihood of proper tendon replacement and tensioning.

  • Publication number: 20230315536
Abstract: To reduce inter- and intra-instruction register bank access conflicts in parallel processors, a processing system includes a remapping circuit to dynamically remap virtual registers to physical registers of a parallel processor during execution of a wavefront. The remapping circuit remaps virtual registers to physical registers at a register mapping table that holds the current set of virtual to physical register mappings based on a list of available registers indicating which physical registers are available for a new mapping and a register mapping policy.

  • Publication number: 20230099684
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a dual-blade tendon cutting apparatus and cartridge for multiple apparatuses. Exemplary aspects of the present disclosure relate to a cutting implement that comprises two parallel blades that are spaced apart from one another by a predefined distance. The distance between the blades determines a lateral size of a graft being taken from the quadriceps tendon. To simplify matters for the surgeon, a cartridge is provided with three different blade sets. Much like a razor that has a disposable head, the cutting implement may attach to a desired blade set and be used.

  • Publication number: 20220370091
Abstract: A guide is disclosed that operates to guide in the creation of a bone spur to facilitate harvesting a quadriceps tendon and includes an end having a width equal to a desired graft width with a terminal slope equal to a cutting angle desired. In use, the guide may be initially positioned parallel to the femur to form guide cuts in the patella. The guide is then rotated ninety degrees to allow an angled cut at the guide cut. The guide is again rotated, this time one hundred eighty degrees and a second angled cut made on the other guide cut. A final lateral cut is made and the bone spur may be lifted from the patella.

  • Publication number: 20220092725
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for implementing register compaction with early release are disclosed. A processor includes at least a command processor, a plurality of compute units, a plurality of registers, and a control unit. Registers are statically allocated to wavefronts by the control unit when wavefronts are launched by the command processor on the compute units. In response to determining that a first set of registers, previously allocated to a first wavefront, are no longer needed, the first wavefront executes an instruction to release the first set of registers. The control unit detects the executed instruction and releases the first set of registers to the available pool of registers to potentially be used by other wavefronts. Then, the control unit can allocate the first set of registers to a second wavefront for use by threads of the second wavefront while the first wavefront is still active.

  • Publication number: 20190187964
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for converting computer program source code from a first high level language to a functionally equivalent executable program code. Source code in a first high level language is analyzed by a code compilation tool. In response to identifying a potential bank conflict in a multi-bank register file, operands of one or more instructions are remapped such that they map to different physical banks of the multi-bank register file. Identifying a potential bank conflict comprises one or more of identifying an intra-instruction bank conflict, an inter-instruction bank conflict, and identifying a multi-word operand with a potential bank conflict.

  • Patent number: 10318344
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for predicting page migration granularities for phases of an application executing on a non-uniform memory access (NUMA) system architecture are disclosed herein. A system with a plurality of processing units and memory devices executes a software application. The system identifies a plurality of phases of the application based on one or more characteristics (e.g., memory access pattern) of the application. The system predicts which page migration granularity will maximize performance for each phase of the application. The system performs a page migration at a first page migration granularity during a first phase of the application based on a first prediction. The system performs a page migration at a second page migration granularity during a second phase of the application based on a second prediction, wherein the second page migration granularity is different from the first page migration granularity.

  • Patent number: 4588179
Abstract: A collator for flexible cards which includes a tray for supporting cards which are fed into a chute by action of a pneumatic puller. Pairs of opposed chutes angularly oriented toward linearly movable bins such that bins can collect cards from opposed chutes and then be indexed to an adjacent pair of opposed, fixed chutes. The pullers are carried by reciprocating arms associated with opposed chutes. A hole in each chute allows a puller to pull a card and then be withdrawn from the card stack, but has a size such that a card is freed from the puller and falls in the chute. Cards are supported in the stack by rubs in a card tray such that the bottommost card is accessible to a puller. First a card drops into a bin from one side, then the other side.

  • Patent number: 3952457
Abstract: The invention is a machine having a reciprocating carriage for abrading both sides of a flat article which is transmitted to the carriage through a series of pinch rollers. The carriage carries an abrading tool with floating abrading surfaces such that the flat articles can pass between the surfaces, yet remain in contact with them. Spring tension keeps the abrading surfaces in contact with flat articles to be abraded.
