  • Patent number: 5943633
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically testing an infusion pump is provided with a pump tester adapted to be coupled to an infusion pump for performing a plurality of tests on the pump. The pump tester performs a first type of test on the pump and a second type of test on the pump. The testing apparatus automatically causes the infusion pump to undergo an operation sequence in which the infusion pump pumps liquid during the performance of at least one of the tests. Whereas the normal operation of the infusion pump is controlled by an infusion pump input device which is capable of generating a plurality of electronic signals in response to manual activation of the input device by a user, the pump tester automatically causes the infusion pump to undergo its operation during testing may include generating a plurality of testing commands.

  • Patent number: 4763652
Abstract: A kidney stone disintegrating system includes a computer-controlled aiming system. The disintegrating system includes a reflector containing water through which the reflector is coupled to a living body having a kidney stone. The reflector is a portion of an ellipsoid and a spark gap generator is located at one focus of the ellipsoid. An electrical energy source is connected to the spark gap generator for generating a spark which in turn generates a shock wave in the fluid. Three motors are connected to the reflector for moving it in respectively X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis directions to locate the reflector so that the kidney stone lies at the second focus point thereof. A pair of ultrasound transducers are carried by an articulated support comprising a plurality of pivotally interconnected arms. Precision potentiometers are provided between the arms to indicate the relative positions thereof, and electrical potentials from the potentiometers are connected to a computer.

  • Patent number: 4495402
Abstract: A warmer for heating wet dressings and other articles disposed in a combined heating and storage compartment in stacked relation insures that a bottommost article about to be dispensed is at a proper temperature so as to avoid burning the patient to whom the article is applied. The articles in stacked relation rest on a thin aluminum plate to which an electrical heater is connected for supplying thermal energy thereto, the plate having a center aperture forming a thermal island in which a first thermal sensor is disposed which projects into the compartment in contact with the bottommost one of the articles therein. A circuit board has control circuitry for the heater thereon and is disposed beneath the plate so as to simultaneously function as a stiffener for the plate. The control circuitry is connected to the first sensor as well as to a second thermal sensor which is directly responsive to the temperature of the heater.
