  • Patent number: 4288942
Abstract: An aerodynamic device having a concave-convex disk member with a rim and a substantially flat portion terminating in a downwardly curved portion adjacent the rim forming an upper convex surface with vanes on the disk to effect outward air flow in response to rotation of the device. A device with the disk having an air opening in the flat portion and a second disk member within the first disk member with the periphery of the second disk member adjacent and spaced from the rim with an air discharge aperture therebetween, said disk members having ribs therebetween for effecting air flow outwardly in response to rotation thereof for providing increased lift to the device.

  • Patent number: 4177500
Abstract: A power failure light for monitoring a power line and for illumination upon the interruption of power therefrom includes a light bulb, a rechargeable battery, a power supply providing charging current for the battery, a pair of diodes connecting the battery across the power supply, a pair of cascaded transistors connecting the bulb across the battery with the base-emitter junctions of the transistors connected across the diodes to thereby sense the condition of the power line. The base-emitter junctions are reversed biased by the pulsating voltage across the diodes, and a timing network, including a resistor across the power supply and a capacitor across the diodes, maintains the reverse biased condition of the junctions between the voltage pulses.

  • Patent number: 3944761
Abstract: A finger-actuated rotary switch adapted for use in electric devices, such as lanterns, and operative to select a desired light or light combination wherein the rotary switch is a waterproof structure and includes an elongated rotatable stem extending through a stator and having a switch rotor retained on one end thereof. The switch rotor is in engagement with the stator and relative movement between the switch rotor and the stator is effective to move the switch rotor into and out of engagement with electrical contact heads extending from the stator all in response to movement of cam followers which extend from the switch rotor and move along and in engagement with a cam surface on the stator. The switch rotor is resiliently maintained in engagement with the stator. A support is positioned between the stator and an operating knob on the stem.

  • Patent number: 3936022
Abstract: An electric lantern and support structure therefor wherein the lantern has a housing having laterally spaced side walls and an end wall at one end and a reflector, bulb, and lens at the other end forming a closed substantially waterproof compartment therein for containing batteries and electrical circuiting. The support structure has a base portion and laterally spaced side arms extending from the base portion. The side arms each have an end portion or gudgeon pivotally supported in bearing and pivoting sockets of respective side walls.
