Patent number: 11182721Abstract: An approach is provided in which an information handling system trains on a set of historical data that includes a set of first infractions caused by a set of first businesses and a set of fines imposed on the set of first businesses based on the set of first infractions. The trained information handling system then performs a risk assessment of a second business that includes predicting a set of possible infractions of the second business based on a set of characteristics of the second business. Then, the information handling system predicts a set of possible fines corresponding to the set of possible infractions based on the historical data. In turn, the information handling system generates a risk report that includes the set of possible infractions and the corresponding set of possible fines.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2018Date of Patent: November 23, 2021Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Cindy Harro, Mark E. Elliott, Thomas H. Rogers, Paul R. Bastide, Aashita Shekhar, Rohit Ranchal

Patent number: 11033993Abstract: A method of forming a gas turbine engine component according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, forming a plurality of internal channels in a main body between one or more internal ribs, and forming a weld pattern in an external surface of a cover skin. The weld pattern is based on at least a geometry of the one or more internal ribs. The method includes positioning the cover skin along the main body to enclose the plurality of internal channels, and welding the cover skin to the main body along the weld pattern subsequent to the positioning step.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2019Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: RAYTHEON TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATIONInventors: Eric W. Malmborg, Thomas H. Rogers

Patent number: 9927220Abstract: A method of inspecting components between a pre-coated state and a post-coated state is provided. The method entails providing at least first and second datum points onto the component in the pre-coated state, where each of the at least first and second datum points have a substantially hemi-spherical shape and a center point. The center points of each of the at least first and second datum points are utilized for measurement of a selected portion on the component in the pre-coated state. Then, the component is coated. Next, the center points of each of the at least first and second datum points are utilized for measurement of the selected portion on the component in the post-coated state. The pre-coated state measurements and the post-coated state measurements are then correlated for inspection purposes.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2013Date of Patent: March 27, 2018Assignee: UNITED TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATIONInventors: Thomas H. Rogers, Randall W. Joyner, James R. Murdock, Andrew J. Brinks, Michael A. Morden

Patent number: 9790797Abstract: A gas turbine engine includes a spool, a turbine coupled to drive the spool, a propulsor coupled to be driven at a at a design speed by the turbine through the spool, and a gear assembly coupled between the propulsor and the spool. Rotation of the turbine drives the propulsor at a different speed than the spool. The propulsor includes a hub and a row of propulsor blades that extend from the hub. Each of the propulsor blades includes an airfoil body. The leading edge of the airfoil body has a swept profile such that, at the design speed, a component of a relative velocity vector of a working gas that is normal to the leading edge is subsonic along the entire radial span.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2011Date of Patent: October 17, 2017Assignee: United Technologies CorporationInventors: Edward J. Gallagher, Thomas H. Rogers

Patent number: 4253513Abstract: A tire having a pair of bead portions for mounting on a rim, a tread portion radially outward of said bead portions and connecting sidewalls is cast and cured from different liquid elastomer forming materials in a three-stage process. First, the inner layer of the tire is molded of high modulus material on a collapsible core in a mold with an outer shell. Second, the first outer shell is removed and a second outer shell of a second mold is mounted around the core and cast inner layer. The tread portion of the tire is then molded by centrifugal casting from a low modulus material. Third, the sidewalls are molded of low modulus, optionally microcellular, material by injection of the liquid elastomer forming material into the sidewall spaces between the molded inner layer and the second outer shell.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1979Date of Patent: March 3, 1981Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber CompanyInventors: William M Larson, Charles J. Pearson, Thomas H. Rogers
