  • Patent number: 4940633
Abstract: A method and structure for providing radio-opaque polymer compounds for use in metal bonding and sealing. A powder filler comprising a high atomic number metal or compound thereof is incorporated into a polymer compound to render it more radio-opaque than the surrounding metal structures. Voids or other discontinuities in the radio-opaque polymer compound can then be detected by x-ray inspection or other non-destructive radiographic procedure.

  • Patent number: 4127618
Abstract: The impact strength of rigid vinyl halide polymers is greatly improved by graft blending therewith up to 50 parts by weight of a butyl rubber composition per hundred parts of vinyl chloride monomer. The graft blends are prepared by polymerizing vinyl chloride monomer in the presence of the butyl rubber by suspension polymerization. This impact enhancement is not gained at the expense of other properties, e.g., processability.

  • Patent number: 4058495
Abstract: A high bulk density/low porosity polyvinyl chloride resin which is highly processable and thermally stable is prepared by suspension polymerization wherein a vinyl chloride monomer is polymerized in the presence of: hydroxyethyl cellulose; an internal lubricant-type long chain compound such as butyl stearate; and a water insoluble/monomer soluble initiator such as lauryl peroxide, and wherein the polymerization is performed under low shear conditions in the presence of a minimum amount of oxygen.
