  • Publication number: 20230186696
Abstract: A method is provided for operating a wireless communication device located in a vehicle to transmit data indicative of trips made by the vehicle to a remote device via a wireless transmitter. An engine ‘on’ state of the vehicle is determined, and a corresponding first time is stored. A first time window of a first non-zero duration is defined beginning prior to the first time and ending at the first time, and a second time window of a second duration is defined beginning at the first time and ending at a second time. First user input is enabled only during the first and second time windows, via an input device operatively connected to the wireless communication device. A current trip is selectively characterized based on the first user input, or omission thereof, as being of a first or second type. A message is generated, indicating the current type of trip.

  • Patent number: 11587375
Abstract: A method of operating a wireless communication device installed in a vehicle to transmit data indicative of trips made by the vehicle to a remote device. An ignition state of the vehicle is determined, wherein said ignition state includes at least an ignition ‘on’ state. A time window is defined based on a time at which the vehicle is determined to be in the ignition ‘on’ state, and a type is assigned to a trip to be made by the vehicle, wherein the trip is of a first type when input data indicative of an input by a user on an input device operatively connected to the wireless communication device is received in the defined time window, and is otherwise of a second type. A message is generated, at least for trips of the first type, indicating the type assigned to the trip, and is wirelessly transmitted to the remote device.

  • Patent number: 11303469
Abstract: A sensor 1 is arranged to read data transmitted on a digital vehicle network. The sensor comprises a wire holding unit 3, and a sensing unit 5. The wire holding unit and sensing unit are connectable to one another, the sensor further comprising a locking mechanism to lock the wire holding unit and the sensing unit together, when the wire holding unit and sensing unit are connected to one another.
