  • Publication number: 20240150242
Abstract: A three-part epoxy grout composition comprises a liquid epoxy blend, a liquid hardener, and a graded particulate aggregate, wherein the dry aggregate particles are pretreated with an applied adhesion promoter in an amount of 0.01 to 5% by weight. The volume of pretreated aggregate particles, when mixed with the epoxy blend and the hardener, comprises at least 70% by volume of the cured grout. Pretreatment of the aggregate by coating with adhesion promoter allows more efficient use of chemicals along with improved strength. Related methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11942988
Abstract: In some embodiments, an optical communication system may include an optical source, a modulator, and a photoreceiver. The optical source may be configured to generate a beam comprising a series of light pulses each having a duration of less than 100 picoseconds. The photoreceiver may have a detection window duration of less than 1 nanosecond. When a first pulse travels through a variably refractive medium, photons in the first pulse may be refracted to travel along different ray paths to arrive at the photoreceiver according to a temporal distribution curve. A full width at half maximum (FWHM) value of the temporal distribution curve may be at least three times as large as a coherence time value of the first pulse, and the detection window of the photoreceiver may be at least six times as large as the FWHM value of the temporal distribution curve.

  • Patent number: 10897838
Abstract: A cooling system including a primary cooling module supplying refrigerant to a circuit including a thermal load. A secondary cooling module provides a supplemental flow of refrigerant to the circuit upon detection of a deficiency of the primary cooling module. A valve is disposed between the primary: module and the circuit to prevent refrigerant flow between the primary cooling module in the circuit. The secondary cooling module transactions from a standby mode of operation to an online mode of operation and the primary cooling module is deactivated in response to detection of the deficiency of the primary cooling module.

  • Publication number: 20190355341
Abstract: An apparatus for playback of captured ambient sounds. The apparatus comprises a controller comprising a first input coupled to a respective first microphone for receiving an audio signal generated by the microphone, the audio signal representative of captured ambient sounds; a second input for receiving a playback instruction to instigate playback of ambient sounds; and an output coupled to a speaker. The apparatus further comprises data memory comprising a data structure for continuously buffering a most recent portion of the audio signal as an audio snippet. In response to detection of the playback instruction at the second input, the controller is configured to determine an output audio signal based on the audio snippet and provide the audio output signal to the output for substantially immediate playback through the speaker.

  • Publication number: 20150216087
Abstract: A method of retrofitting a computer room air conditioner having a direct expansion refrigeration circuit to increase a maximum temperature delta of the computer room air conditioner includes adding an upstream cooling circuit that is a pumped refrigerant cooling circuit having a cooling coil disposed upstream of a cooling coil of the direct expansion refrigeration circuit. Air to be cooled is passed in serial fashion across the cooling coil of the upstream cooling circuit and then the cooling coil of the direct expansion refrigeration circuit. The upstream cooling circuit is controlled to cool the air flowing across the cooling coil of the upstream cooling circuit to provide only sensible cooling and so that a temperature of the upstream cooling coil is always above a dewpoint of the air flowing across the upstream cooling coil. The direction direct expansion refrigeration circuit is controlled to provide any latent cooling that is needed.
