The method can include either or both of providing a plurality short life wired pipe drilling components to the oil field operational participant, providing the short life wired pipe drilling components including receiving a rental fee from the oil field operational participant, wherein the rental fee includes an operation cost portion that is based on a data rate to be used by the short life wired pipe drilling components and providing a software product to the oil field operational participant, the software product allowing for the reception of data from at least one of the short life wired pipe drilling components.
