  • Publication number: 20040244981
Abstract: A bypass valve for a gas lift plunger includes a cylindrical valve having opposed ends, a circumferential sidewall and a first flow through aperture which extends through the circumferential sidewall. A body is provided with a cylindrical valve seat and a second flow through aperture. The cylindrical valve is rotatable relative to the valve seat. When the cylindrical valve is rotated to a first position the first flow through aperture and the second flow through aperture are in register thereby permitting gas to flow through. When the cylindrical valve is rotated to a second position, the first flow through aperture and the second flow through aperture are out of register and the flow of gas is restricted. An activation sleeve which overlies the body is used to move the cylindrical valve between the first position and the second position.

  • Publication number: 20040165992
Abstract: A plunger for a plunger-lift pumping system which includes an elongate cylindrical body having a first end and a second end. A plunger suspension coupling is positioned at the first end of the body. A plurality of annular members are provided having central openings and a first radial dimension. The cylindrical body extends through the central openings of the annular members, such that the annular members overlie the cylindrical body. Spacers are provided for maintaining spacing between the annular members. The spacers have a second radial dimension which is less than the first radial dimension, thereby forming circumferential spaces along the cylindrical body between the annular members. A first retainer stops axial movement of the annular members at the first end of the body. A second retainer stops axial movement of the annular members at the second end of the body.

  • Patent number: 6182754
Abstract: A scraper apparatus for a reciprocating sucker rod for prevention of the wearing of grooves in well tubing. The scraper is formed by a body with two opposed spiral vanes extending 180 degrees around the body and defining flow channels positioned between the spiral vanes. The scraper is secured to the reciprocating sucker rod and is positioned within the well tubing. The well tubing has an inner circumference with the two opposed spiral vanes engaging 360 degrees of the inner circumference of the well tubing while enabling fluids to bypass the body through the flow channels.

  • Patent number: 5941312
Abstract: A method of fabricating a rod guide. The first step involves providing a sucker rod having an exterior surface with a raised profile. The second step involves providing a split sleeve having at least one segment. The split sleeve has an interior surface with a recessed profile that mates with the raised profile of the sucker rod thereby securing the sleeve against axial movement relative to the sucker rod. The third step involves providing an overlying sleeve that overlies the split sleeve to maintain the split sleeve in mating engagement with the sucker rod.
