  • Patent number: 11079207
Abstract: A fully plated hollow-point bullet and a method of manufacturing the bullet wherein a malleable metal precursor core having a central cavity and a surrounding wall is divided into a series of petals, each petal being separated from one another by an air space, and all interior and exterior surfaces of the precursor core, including individual petals, are thereafter electroplated with a second metal and final formed in a hollow-point pointing die, ultimately producing a more robust bullet and one that expands easier and faster on impact than plated bullets of conventional manufacture.

  • Patent number: 11067370
Abstract: A multi-piece ammunition cartridge casing includes a casing base extending along a central axis and defining an opening extending axially into the casing base from the distal base end. The inner casing surface defines a circumferential groove with a groove radius greater than a radius of an adjacent portion of the opening. The cartridge casing also includes a casing body with a proximal end portion disposed in the opening of the casing base. The casing body is secured to the casing base by way of a flange protruding radially outward in mating contact with the circumferential groove.

  • Patent number: 10330447
Abstract: A firearm projectile has a core extending along a central axis from a base portion to a tip portion, the base portion generally having a cylindrical shape and the tip portion comprising an ogive shape. A jacket encases the core along the base portion and the tip portion, the jacket having a shank portion defining a closed rear end and an ogive portion extending to an open front end. Protrusions extend into the core from an inside of the shank portion, the protrusions having a spaced-apart arrangement with each protrusion engaging the core to retain the core together with the jacket upon impact with a target.

  • Patent number: 10119797
Abstract: Techniques and architecture are disclosed for a nose insert for use in a projectile. The nose insert includes a polymer nose element and a metal cap. The polymer nose element includes a rear shank portion and a tapered head portion. Disposed onto the tapered head portion of the polymer nose is the metal cap. The metal includes an outer curved portion that terminates at a forward end in a meplat. In some embodiments, the metal cap prevents deformation of the polymer nose element caused by high stagnation temperatures experienced by the projectile during flight. In some other embodiments, the metal cap includes a locking ridge. The locking ridge is disposed on an inner surface of the metal cap component and interfaces with an outer surface of the tapered head portion of the polymer nose element.

  • Patent number: 9778002
Abstract: A wad or shot cup having a forward cylinder portion receiving a payload and a rear cylinder portion receiving a charge of propellant. One or more latent deceleration features can be formed in a surface of the sidewall extending along the rear cylinder portion. The latent deceleration features can be spaced apart from a rearward end of the shot cup and can be deployed to form deceleration petals after the shot cup is fired from a firearm. A series of longitudinal slits can be formed in the forward cylinder portion so that a portion of the sidewall expands radially adjacent the longitudinal slits after the shot cup is fired from a firearm for urging at least a portion of the payload to exit the forward cylinder portion.
