  • Patent number: 7362572
Abstract: An improved redundant computing apparatus includes a chassis assembly configured to (i) mount to a standard electronic equipment rack and (ii) consume substantially 1U of space in a particular direction (e.g., vertical height) within the standard electronic equipment rack. The chassis assembly includes a housing and a midplane disposed within the housing. The apparatus further includes a set of power supply/blower assemblies configured to connect to the midplane of the chassis assembly through a front of the housing in a field replaceable manner, and a set of computing devices configured to connect to the midplane of the chassis assembly through a back of the housing in a field replaceable manner. By way of example, the set of computing devices is adapted to move data into and out of a set of disk drives on behalf of a set of external host computers.

  • Patent number: 7290330
Abstract: A system including a circuit board and several pluggable modules coupled to the circuit board. The several pluggable modules are insertable through side-by-side slots in an enclosure in which the circuit board resides. A first pluggable module is coupled to the circuit board via a first connector, while a second pluggable module is coupled to the circuit board via a second connector such that the second pluggable module is laterally offset from the first pluggable module. The first and second connectors are right angle connectors, and the second right angle connector is inverted relative to the first right angle connector. The first and second pluggable modules are I/O modules for transporting high speed differential signals, and wherein the first pluggable module includes several XFP connectors, and wherein the second pluggable module includes several SFP connectors. The second pluggable module includes several SFP connectors arranged on both sides of the pluggable module.

  • Patent number: 5167902
Abstract: A dart-assembly for piercing open a blockage in the opening of a ladle for holding and transporting molten steel is mounted in the outlet bore of a slide-gate associated with the ladle opening. The assembly has an outer steel housing; mounted within the housing is a dart-member having an elongated rod, which rod has a lower threaded end for receiving a threaded nut. The upper end of the rod is provided with a dart-like head-portion which actually contacts and pierces through the blockage in the opening of the ladle when the dart-member is fired. A compression spring is telescopingly mounted about most of the length of the elongated rod of the dart-member, between the enlarged dart-like head-portion and the upper, flat-surface of a stop member.

  • Patent number: 4324556
Abstract: A portable spectrophotometric apparatus and method therefor for measuring the percentage of carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) in blood. The apparatus comprises a spectrophotometer and wavelength selection filters for testing a reference sample having a hemolizing agent and sodium hyposulfite and a treated blood sample with the hemolizing agent and sodium hyposulfite and providing a two component COHb-Hb system for determining relative absorbance values of the two samples at light wavelengths of 420 nanometers and 432 nanometers, the wavelengths corresponding to respective peak absorbance of the components in the high absorbance Soret region on opposite sides of an isobestic point formed by the intersection of their respective absorbance-wavelength curves. The ratio of the derived relative values is compared against predetermined data to determine the percentage of carboxyhemoglobin in the blood.
