Patent number: 12144644Abstract: An apparatus for evaluating the tongue strength and coordination of a subject includes an intermediate device such as a lever which is pivotably attached to a coupling device and extends into a cavity of a nipple element. The lever is detached from the nipple and pivotable in response to deformation of the nipple element by a tongue force exerted on the nipple element by a subject during a suck-swallow-breathe sequence. The coupling device includes a sensing device to wirelessly transmit sensor outputs to a mobile device paired to the sensing device. The sensing device includes at least one sealed chamber defined by a membrane and a sensor. In one example, a first membrane and sensor senses pressure change in a fluid in the apparatus, and a second membrane and sensor is actuated by the intermediate device to sense deformation of the nipple element. A method using the apparatus is provided.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 2021Date of Patent: November 19, 2024Assignee: NFANT Labs, Inc.Inventors: Thomas J. Cunningham, Louis F. Malice, Jr., Gilson J. Publication number: 20240322764Abstract: Various aspects include audio amplifiers for driving at least one speaker. In some cases, the amplifier includes: a controller for amplifying at least one input signal to provide an amplified audio output signal, the controller configured to operate the amplifier in at least two modes, including: a first mode including a dedicated connection to the at least one speaker; and a second mode including a direct physical connection with an additional audio amplifier and the dedicated connection to the at least one speaker; and an interface switch coupled with the controller that enables a change between the first mode and the second mode, wherein the controller maintains the selection of the first mode or the second mode until a command is received via the interface switch.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 3, 2024Publication date: September 26, 2024Inventors: Lino Antony Pucci, Thomas Edward McBrine, Douglas J. Cunningham, II

Publication number: 20230022106Abstract: A breast milk flow monitoring system in the form of a milk flow monitoring sensor is described and includes an array of electrodes and a controller. The electrodes include electrically conductive surfaces that are arranged to contact a skin surface of a breast. The controller generates a first excitation signal that is communicated via the first electrode to a first location on the breast, and generates a second excitation signal that is communicated via the first electrode to the first location on the breast. The controller receives a first current response signal and a second current response signal. A bio-impedance spectroscopic analysis of the first current response signal and the second current response signal is executed, wherein the bio-impedance spectroscopic analysis is calibrated for breast milk flow. A breast milk flow parameter is determined based upon the bio-impedance spectroscopic analysis.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2022Publication date: January 26, 2023Applicant: NFANT Labs LLCInventor: Thomas J. CUNNINGHAM

Publication number: 20220265166Abstract: A sensing device including a sensor, a triggering mechanism is provided. The sensing device is attachable to a covering positioned in contact with a body such that the triggering mechanism extends between first and second segments of the body. Movement of at least one of the first and second segments activates the triggering mechanism to provide an input to the sensor, actuating the sensor to generate an output defining at least one measurement of the movement. The measurement may be one or more of rotation, translation, velocity, acceleration, and joint angle. An intermediate mechanism may be interposed between the triggering mechanism and the sensor. The sensing device may include a means to process or record measurements corresponding to movement. A system and method of measuring the movement is also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2022Publication date: August 25, 2022Applicant: AILETICS LLCInventor: Thomas J. Cunningham
