  • Publication number: 20170035170
Abstract: A waterproof housing for an electronic device includes a first member, a second member, and a gasket. The first member includes a perimeter portion, an interior bounding member, and an exterior bounding member. The interior bounding member and the exterior bounding member form a channel in the first member and the exterior bounding member includes a groove. The second member removably couples to the first member to form the waterproof housing. The second member includes a perimeter portion that extends into the channel of the first member when the second member is coupled to the first member. The second member further includes a ridge that mates with the groove of the exterior bounding member of the first member. The gasket is compressed between the first member and the second member when the first member is coupled to the second member.

  • Publication number: 20150270734
Abstract: A case for an electronic device includes a front member having an aperture for interacting with a touchscreen of the electronic device and a back member that includes a rechargeable power cell, a switched electrical interface, an electromechanical switch, and current monitoring circuitry. The switched electrical interface has an enabled mode in which electrical current is permitted to flow from the rechargeable power cell of the case to the installed electronic device and a disabled mode in which the electrical current is not permitted to flow to the installed electronic device. The electromechanical switch transitions the switched electrical interface from the disabled mode to the enabled mode. The current monitoring circuitry automatically toggles the switched electrical interface from the enabled mode to the disabled mode when the magnitude of the electrical current flowing from the case to the electronic device decreases to a predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20150201723
Abstract: This disclosure relates to apparatuses for housing an electronic device with a biometric scanner. In various instances, the apparatuses are waterproof housings or encasements. This disclosure also relates to protective films for electronic devices with biometric scanners. The housings and protective films may be separate units from the electronic device or part of the electronic device itself. In various instances, the housing is a separate unit from the electronic device, within which the electronic device is fitted. In certain instances, the housing or protective film for the electronic device is adapted for protecting the device from shock, liquid, dust, dirt, or snow while also permitting the biometric scanner on the electronic device to be used. The electronic device may be any suitable electronic device, such as a smartphone, computer, mobile computer, notebook computer, personal media player, tablet computer, or personal digital assistant.
