    Abstract: Method and apparatus for enhancing the image capture of data, such as MICR characters and handwritten and printed information from the face of financial documents having background patterns and illustrations thereon. The documents are back lighted with sufficient illuminating intensity to wash out the less opaque patterns and illustrations so as to enhance the visibility and image capture of the pertinent data.
