  • Publication number: 20140081374
Abstract: The present invention relates to devices and methods for the treatment of diseases in the vasculature, and more specifically, devices and methods for treatment of aneurysms found in blood vessels. In a first embodiment of the present invention, a two part prostheses, where one part is an expandable sponge structure and the other part is an expandable tubular mesh structure, is provided. In the first embodiment, the expandable sponge structure is intended to fill the aneurysm cavity to prevent further dilatation of the vessel wall by creating a buffer or barrier between the pressurized pulsating blood flow and the thinning vessel wall. In the first embodiment, the expandable tubular mesh structure is placed across the aneurysm, contacting the inner wall of healthy vessel proximal and distal to the aneurysm.

  • Patent number: 8623080
Abstract: A method of using a prosthetic heart valve assembly can include implanting a first prosthesis directly into a native annulus. The first prosthesis can have a central longitudinal axis and a first engagement element. The method can also include engaging the first engagement element of the first prosthesis with a second engagement element of a second prosthesis to securely couple the second prosthesis to the first prosthesis. The second prosthesis can have a prosthetic valve. The first engagement element engages the second engagement element by moving the second prosthesis towards the first prosthesis in a direction generally parallel to the central longitudinal axis until the first engagement element engages the second engagement element.

  • Publication number: 20130190804
Abstract: In one embodiment of the present invention there is provided a method of providing protection during a procedure performed in the vasculature using an open loop filter device comprising two elongate support members positioned to form at least one crossover location between adjacent open loops of the device. The method may also include placing the open loop device down stream of a location in the vasculature performing a procedure to treat the vasculature in proximity to the location; and capturing debris released during the procedure in a material capture structure suspended between the elongate support members and across the vessel. Additionally, there can be a step of maintaining the open loop filter device downstream of the location along the wall of the vasculature while permitting movement along the wall of the vasculature of the two elongate support members adjacent the material capture structure.
