  • Patent number: 5662365
Abstract: A latch assembly for a lockset is disclosed comprising a cylindrical bolt including at least one axially extending flat portion and a cylindrical casing which is to be inserted into matched bore in a door and which includes a bore for receiving the bolt. The bolt and bore include cooperating structure for maintaining a desired orientation of the bolt relative to the bore as the bolt is displaced from an extended position to a retracted position. A cylindrical adaptor is provided for effectively increasing the diameter of the cylindrical casing including first and second semi-cylindrical portions displaceable into abutting relationship to capture the cylindrical casing and to define a selectively sized outer diameter. The semi-cylindrical portions are releasably secured together when they abut and have a radially inwardly extending end portion which together define an opening selectively configured to matingly receive the cylindrical bolt thereby defining a facing for the cylindrical casing.

  • Patent number: 5611581
Abstract: A latch assembly wherein a retractor member conjointly lowers a stop which is preventing latch bolt retraction and rotates a cam which will retract the bolt. A deadlatch bolt stop, which limits the forward displacement of the deadlatch bolt relative to the latch bolt, can be brought into engagement with the latch bolt since it can deflect the stop, which is preventing latch bolt retraction, down out of its way.

  • Patent number: 5441318
Abstract: A lever door lockset 20 includes an exterior subassembly 21 and an interior subassembly 55. Interior subassembly 55 includes a lever 56 positioned on an insert 62 which supports a rose insert 64. A half-round spindle 78 and a round spindle 80 are positioned through a spring biasing arrangement including spring 76 and through a bearing 88 supported by a shield 86 . Shield 86 is assembled with rose insert 64. Exterior subassembly 21 includes a lever 22 which is assembled with an insert 24. A rose insert 32, a spring biasing arrangement including spring 40 and a cover 48 are mounted in assembly on insert 24. A latch assembly 94 including latch bolt 96 is coupled through half-round spindle 78 to levers 22 and 56 for movement of bolt 96 upon movement of the levers.

  • Patent number: 5364139
Abstract: A door latch assembly (10) includes a latch bolt mechanism (60) having a bolt (62) movable between a door latching position and a door unlatching position. Assembly (10) further includes handle lever (16) and (36) at opposite ends of a square spindle 64. An adapter 68 is attached to spindle 64 and engages cam surfaces 158 and 160 of a slide 142 within mechanism (60) to facilitate movement of bolt 62 when either of the levers (16) or (36) are operated.A locking plate 44 is attached to spindle 64 for movement therewith and is formed with a peripheral notch 138. A locking dog 48 is selectively positionable within notch 138 to prevent rotation of spindle 64 and movement of bolt 62 when an attempt is made to operate either of the levers 16 or 36.A stop plate 230 is also mounted on spindle 64 for rotation therewith and is positioned to engage fixed stems 28 to preclude attempted movement of either of the levers 16 or 36 in an upward direction but permits downward movement thereof to facilitate movement of bolt 62.
