Abstract: A method and apparatus for preferential determination and display of points of interest are provided. The points of interest can be determined based on a variety of non-proximity based factors, including, but not limited to, time of day, temperature, etc. The automatically determined points of interest can then be displayed for a user on a display associated with a vehicle-based computing system. Advertisements may also be selected and displayed based on incoming signals, and points of interest associated with displayed advertisements may be displayed.

Abstract: A vehicle-based system interfaces with at least one wellness device to track and monitor various aspects of user wellness. The aspects include, but are not limited to, heart rate, glucose levels, distance traveled, pace, body temperature, etc. The vehicle-based system may be capable of reporting results to a remote server and to the user directly. The vehicle-based system may further be capable of recommending courses of action based on analysis of the results.

Abstract: A vehicle communication system is operable to calculate and compare vehicle statistics based on information received from a vehicle sensor. This statistic information can be used by the vehicle communication system to execute a plurality of statistic based games. Additionally, relevant statistic information may be transmitted to a remote network for the purpose of playing games against other drivers. The vehicle communication system can report statistical changes to a driver, thus appraising the driver of the driver's success in achieving statistical game goals. Network rankings may also be provided to the driver in a real-time basis by the vehicle communication system.

Abstract: A game is provided which can be played over a vehicular ad hoc network. Because vehicles may rapidly change locations, the game is capable of switching to new instances of the same game with relatively seamless transitions. Players who are no longer in a new instance, but were in the previous instance, may be replaced by computer controlled players to add to the seamlessness of the transition.

Abstract: A method for making a purchase using a vehicle computing system includes receiving input to the vehicle computing system instructing order initiation. The method also includes receiving a selection at the vehicle computing system of a merchant from which to order. The method further includes receiving an order at the vehicle computing system, determining an address of the merchant to which the order was placed and providing directions to the address. These can be provided as, for example, turn by turn directions spoken and/or displayed on a nav display. Finally, the exemplary method includes processing a payment for the order.

The discussion groups are selected based on the degree to which interests of friends of the occupant coincide with the interests of the occupant.
