  • Patent number: 7119496
Abstract: A power supply arrangement is provided for supplying power to a plurality of back and/or edge illumination devices (5) in a liquid crystal display unit (1), comprising a mains connection (7), a power converter (6) and at least one inverter (8). The power converter (6) is arranged to convert an AC voltage input to a DC voltage output, and the inverter (8) is connected to said DC voltage output, and arranged to convert said output to a DC voltage level adequate for driving said illumination devices (5). Furthermore, the inverter (8) is provided with mains isolation. By virtue of this arrangement, no conventional adapter is required, and the LCD can be connected directly to the mains. The conversion down to a low DC voltage is eliminated, without violating the current-limitation safety requirements. This leads to a more effective power supply.

  • Patent number: 6940802
Abstract: An optical scanning device scans an information track which is present on an information carrier. The scanning device includes a radiation source, a lens system with an optical axis for focusing a radiation beam supplied by the radiation source into a scanning spot on the information carrier, and a focusing actuator for displacing the lens system relatively to a basic part of the scanning device in a direction parallel to the optical axis. The actuator includes an electric coil which is arranged around the lens system and provided with a passage for a radiation beam path which extends in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis. The electric coil is provided around the lens system by means of a winding process, the passage being provided in the coil by bending the parts of the coil wires which are present near the radiation beam path, in a direction substantially parallel to the optical axis.

  • Publication number: 20040213096
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical scanning device (17) for scanning an information track which is present on an information carrier (9). The scanning device comprises a radiation source (31), a lens system (43) with an optical axis (45) for focusing a radiation beam (47) supplied by the radiation source into a scanning spot (55) on the information carrier, and a focusing actuator (65) for displacing the lens system relatively to a basic part (29) of the scanning device in a direction parallel to the optical axis. The actuator comprises an electric coil (69) which is arranged around the lens system and provided with a passage (95) for a radiation beam path (49) which extends in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis.

  • Patent number: 4635018
Abstract: A core for an inductor or transformer includes a number of concentric turns of a ferromagnetic strip material. An inner core portion (13) consists of a non-amorphous material and an outer core portion (27) consists of an amorphous material. The transition between the two core portions (13, 27) is formed by a welded joint between the overlapping outer (17) and inner (15) end portions of the outer turn of the inner core portion (13), and with the inner end portion (19) of the inner turn (33) of the outer core portion (27) disposed therebetween.
