  • Publication number: 20020077152
Abstract: Wireless communication systems and methods using multiple overlapping sectored cells. Two or more cells in which communication services are provided to a number of subscriber stations at least partially overlap in an overlapping region and are each divided into a number of sectors. A first cell uses a first group of channels to communicate with at least some subscriber stations that are located in the first cell, and a second cell uses a second group of channels to communicate with at least some subscriber stations that are located in the second cell. The sectored cells use different communication channels in respective overlapping sectors of the overlapping region. In this manner, one or more first cells may be deployed with one or more second cells either initially or in a modular fashion over time to flexibly accommodate various topological distributions of subscriber stations and varying capacity demands in a wireless communication system without posing significant interference problems.

  • Publication number: 20020028677
Abstract: Wireless communication methods and systems using multiple sectored cells. In one example, each cell of a cellular coverage area is divided into a number of sectors. A number of different half duplex or full duplex channels are used in each cell to communicate between a base station and a number of subscriber stations located in the cell. A number of different cell configurations may be derived based on different channel sequences amongst cells using same channels, different rotations (azimuth orientations) of the cells with respect to one another, and/or different channel types used amongst cells. Based on the different cell configurations, a variety of core sectored cell groups may be formed and implemented in extended formations.

  • Patent number: 6336042
Abstract: A wireless telephony system is described wherein remotely distributed transceivers, each of which has only a single antenna for receiving signals from wireless telephones, and such remote transceivers are located close enough so adjacent transceivers receive signals from the same wireless telephones to provide reverse link antenna diversity to help prevent loss of signal from a wireless telephone.

  • Patent number: 6164408
Abstract: A plenum mounted, flat metal panel diaphragm masking loudspeaker includes a flat, stamped sheet metal frame which has a deployed state and an undeployed, flat state well suited to storage or shipping. A large, movable tab at the bottom of the frame is weakened by a series of small apertures and forms a hinge or fold line. Electrical accessories including a transformer, a rotary switch for selecting transformer taps and signal connections are included in an enclosed box mounted on the foldable tab. The flat panel masking loudspeaker is shipped flat in the undeployed state and then the large tab is deployed by being folded outwardly before installing the flat panel masking loudspeaker in a ceiling plenum. During installation, the tab is folded along the hinge or fold line out to approximately 90.degree.

  • Patent number: 6122529
Abstract: Apparatus and a method are disclosed for a wireless telephony system to eliminate blind areas where signal coverage is weak or non-existent by providing remote transceivers that are physically located in the blind areas. A central transceiver located with a base telephone station and tower mounted antenna receives wireless telephony signals being transmitted by the antenna to a wireless telephone and forwards it over either an dedicated or existing broadband distribution network, such as a cable television distribution network, to the remote transceiver which transmits the same telephony signals in the blind area to a wireless telephone operating in the blind area. Telephony signals originating from a wireless telephone operating in the blind area are received by the remote transceiver and forwarded over either the dedicated or existing broadband distribution network to the central transceiver which inputs the telephony signals to the base telephone station.

  • Patent number: 5251965
Abstract: A solid elastomeric tire is provided with an inwardly extending circular flange which is received in a V-shaped groove formed by and between inner faces of the two wheel disks of a disk wheel assembly. The disks are welded together around a circle radially inward from the tire flange, and are welded to a wheel hub cylinder having bushings therein. The tire flange in the groove resists the rolling of the tire off the rim in response to axially directed force on the tire.

  • Patent number: 5164991
Abstract: An amplified speaker has an amplifier section including an audio amplifier powered from a power input section and a variable audio input section for supplying an input audio signal via an audio transformer to the audio amplifier. The power input section includes a rectifier bridge and a capacitor filter circuit, so that power may be obtained from an inexpensive unregulated AC source rather than an expensive regulated DC power supply. The variable audio input section permits audio signals at various levels from 30 mVrms to 70.7 Vrms to be inputted.

  • Patent number: 4580846
Abstract: A rubber tired wheel assembly is provided with two wheel rim blanks welded together after the installation of ball bearing assemblies in each of the rim blanks. The bearing assemblies are retained by casing caps confining the bearing outer races in wells in the rim blanks, the casing caps being projection welded to the rim blanks to locate and secure the bearing assemblies concentric with tire receiving surfaces of the rim blanks.

  • Patent number: 4489683
Abstract: A crankshaft mounted secondary shaking force balancer for multicylinder engines and the like in which eccentrically rotating balance weights carried on the crankshaft and arranged for substantial primary balance are combined in oppositely rotating groups of weights driven by stationary ring or sun gears and associated planetary gears to provide coacting rotating forces that combine to apply directly to the crankshaft a secondary shaking force reciprocating at twice crankshaft speed and available to balance equivalent oppositely directed shaking forces developed by the crankshaft connected moving components of the engine.

  • Patent number: 4427056
Abstract: A vehicle temperature control system includes a control assembly for directing a fluid actuating medium to selected ones of a plurality of door actuators to position a plurality of doors in selected modes of operation. The control assembly includes a valve housing defining a chamber, a fluid inlet passage and a plurality of opposed inlet cavities and outlet passages. A lever positioned slide valve is shiftable within the chamber. An array of control passages defined by the slide valve selectively place the inlet cavities in communication with the outlet passages. Seal members are disposed in each of the inlet cavities and outlet passages to insure that the fluid medium passes through the control passages. A mode selection lever engages the slide valve and also defines a cam surface for selectively actuating an air conditioner compressor switch.
