  • Patent number: 6205019
Abstract: A switchboard for mounting and supplying electrical power to a plurality of circuit breakers has all the breakers are mounted on one side of a vertical power stack. The power stack has vertical buses to which the breakers are connected. Insulators and spacers provide air ventilation paths through the power stack. The main bus connecting members on the other side of the power stack from the breakers and are spaced apart vertically to allow for improved heat dissipation. By using vertical bus connectors, the bus connecting members may be connected to through bus connectors at any height on the back of the switchboard. The main bus connecting members are in a vertical chimney for improved heat dissipation. The circuit breaker at the highest location (the “A” phase) has the highest temperature and in the present invention, the main bus connecting member for the A phase is in the highest position to place it closest to the heat source and thereby improve the heat conduction away from the breakers.

  • Patent number: 5166861
Abstract: A switchboard for mounting and supplying electrical power to a plurality of circuit breakers. The switchboard comprises a frame including a center mounting pan, and at least first and second circuit breaker mounting pans for engaging and supporting the rear end portions of the circuit breakers. The switchboard also comprises a power stack assembly mounted on the center mounting pan of the frame. The power stack assembly includes first, second and third, substantially vertically disposed main bus bar members for being connected to a source of electrical power and for releasably engaging the circuit breakers. The first main bus bar member is selectively spaced from the center mounting pan with insulator members so as to define a first ventilation passageway therebetween. The second main bus bar member is selectively spaced from the first main bus bar member with insulator members so as to define a second ventilation passageway therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5160284
Abstract: A clamping assembly which provides a uniform pressure simultaneously at two spaced apart points. The assembly includes a portion of a support member which has two parallel sides and a passage connecting the two parallel sides. A tubular shaped sleeve is received within the passage and includes short tabs extending slightly past the surface of the two parallel sides of the support member. A U-shaped anti-turn bracket is slidably received around the support member and includes slots that coincide with the passage in the support member. The tubular sleeve has a non-circular inside cross-section. A double-ended bolt having a first and second threaded end and an intermediate non-circular portion complementary to the non-circular cross-section of the sleeve is slidably received within the sleeve. The bolt is permitted to move linearly but not permitted to rotate within the sleeve. Threaded nuts are placed on each of the first and second threaded end.

  • Patent number: 5036427
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a compartment including a frame, a pair of contacts supported by the frame, a first rail which is fixed to the frame and which has an end, and a second rail supported by pivotal movement relative thereto between a horizontal position wherein the second rail extends forwardly from the end of the first rail and in substantially colinear relation to the first rail, and a vertical position wherein the second rail extends in transverse relation to the first rail, and a drawout circuit breaker assembly including a circuit breaker having thereon a pair of contacts, the assembly being movable along the first and second rails when the second rail is in the horizontal position, being movable along the first rail so as to move the circuit breaker assembly contacts into and out of engagement with the compartment contacts, and being movable entirely onto the first rail so that the second rail is movable from the horizontal position to the vertical position.
