  • Publication number: 20230000654
Abstract: A support for an area of a body having a hinge joint includes: a flexible, elastically stretchable framework configured to extend across the hinge joint of the area of the body; and a hinge mechanism affixed to the framework. The hinge mechanism includes a strut component and a first arm component connected to the strut component such that the first arm component is rotatable relative to the strut component only about a first pivot axis. A second arm component is connected to the strut component such that the second arm component is rotatable relative to the strut component only about a second pivot axis. The strut component is configured to extend with the framework across the hinge joint such that the first pivot axis is located on a first side of the hinge joint and the second pivot axis is located on a second, opposite side of the hinge joint.

  • Publication number: 20220110774
Abstract: A method of donning a potentiating support for a hinge joint of a body includes positioning a garment proximate an area of a body; positioning an expandable and recoverable framework in abutment with the area of the body such that the framework spans a hinge joint of the body, the framework defining a plurality of permanent openings extending therethrough regardless of whether the support is donned; applying tension at points of the framework such that the framework is expanded and the framework is tensioned in its abutment with the area of the body, said step of applying tension being performed by pulling on one or more fastening components that are attached at one or more points to said framework; and affixing each of the fastening components to the garment while applying tension to the framework to secure the expanded framework in its forced abutment with the area of the body.

  • Patent number: 10791884
Abstract: An automatic paper towel dispenser includes a dispensing mechanism configured to dispense a paper towel, a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) sensor, and a controller in communication with the LIDAR sensor. The LIDAR sensor is configured to emit light toward an object within a detection region at a first time, detect the light reflected by the object at a second time, and calculate a time of flight of the light. The time of flight is an amount of time that elapses between the first time and the second time. The controller is configured to calculate a distance between the LIDAR sensor and the object based on the time of flight and actuate the dispensing mechanism based on the calculated distance.

  • Publication number: 20080272127
Abstract: An assembly includes an outer container. The outer container has a top rim defining a mouth of the outer container, and the outer container defines a side opening in a wall thereof. The assembly also includes an interior container. The interior container includes a bag engaging member. The interior container is located within the outer container such that the engaging member covers the side opening in the outer container. The bag engaging member is configured to receive and retain a pliable liner that is disposed within the interior container. The bag engaging member is an insert that is located within an opening in a wall of the interior container or, alternatively, is formed in a wall of the interior container.

  • Publication number: 20080264948
Abstract: An insert for placement in an opening of a trashcan assembly includes a plurality of resilient, flexible fingers that define a passageway and that are configured to receive and retain a portion of a pliable liner that is extended through the passageway. The insert may be round or elliptical. The fingers define an open space there between in the shape of an “X”. Furthermore, each finger may include a portion thereof that extends in a first direction and then curves back to extend in a generally opposite direction. In this regard, each finger may be “L” shaped, “J” shaped, or “T” shaped. The insert further may include a circumferentially extending channel that fully encircles a circumferential periphery of the insert. Each finger is resilient and flexible and returns to an initial position after being deflected when a portion of a liner is inserted through the passageway.
