Patent number: 11126056Abstract: A method for removing a material from a surface of a substrate includes impinging a laser beam on the material during a first sweep to remove the material from the surface along a first line and impinging the laser beam on the material during a second sweep to remove the material from the surface along a second line adjacent to the first line. The first line includes first artifacts that form a first portion of an array of artifacts on the surface. The second line includes second artifacts that form a second portion of the array of artifacts on the surface. Patent number: 7905191Abstract: A liquid cargo carrying maritime vessel including a plurality of liquid cargo carrying tanks and a plurality of gas expansion trunks wherein each gas expansion trunk is above, associated with, and in fluid communication with a respective tank therebelow, via slotted apertures in the deck. Each gas expansion trunk is fixedly positioned on a portion of a deck of the vessel above the associated tank and in fluid/tight relationship with the deck over a periphery of the trunk which encloses the totality of slotted apertures in the deck. Depending on the attributes of the ship, the expansion trunk is preferably located directly above the tank and at the highest point available of the tank and as far forward on the tank as possible. Alternatively, and depending upon obstructive constraints and vessel conditions, the trunk may be placed in other locations such as aftmost on the tank or inbetween.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2004Date of Patent: March 15, 2011Assignee: Saudi Arabian Oil CompanyInventors: Ian Hall, Thomas J. Patent number: 6009821Abstract: A new tank ship, or an older ship which might not otherwise be economically retrofitted to comply with current regulations, is provided with a double hull requiring essentially no internal steel structural support by distributing and compacting sand in the bottom of the tank or cargo hold, applying a layer of reinforced concrete to the sand, laying steel plates on the surface of the cured concrete and welding the abutting edges of the plates to the hull, interior bulkheads, and to each other, to form a second fluid-tight bottom in the tank. The construction method can be used to retrofit older tankers to comply with Regulation 13G of MARPOL.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1998Date of Patent: January 4, 2000Assignee: Saudi Arabian Oil CompanyInventors: Fouad Abdul Karim Al-Rammah, Thomas J. Patent number: 5832846Abstract: A process and apparatus for limiting the production of nitrogen oxides (NO.sub.x) during the combustion of a fossil fuel (e.g. natural gas, fuel oil and coal) in a cyclone type boiler includes the injection of water into the secondary air supply. The water is quickly vaporized into steam as the temperature rises, simultaneously cooling the surrounding air predominately as a result of the latent heat of vaporization, thus reducing the quantity of heat contained within the combustion air delivered to the flame. To avoid quenching combustion, substantially all of the water is vaporized into steam prior to exiting the cyclone section. For natural gas and fuel oil, preferably about 2.5 to 10.0 gallons of water are injected per 100 lbs of fuel. Water is injected through existing ports originally provided in cyclone boilers either for use as secondary air calibration ports or as oil deslagging system ports.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1996Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignee: Public Service Electric And Gas CorporationInventors: Louis J.
