  • Patent number: 7646302
Abstract: A scooping device with an integrated electromagnetic (EM) surveillance device for a container. The container defines an interior for storing a product. The scooping device is configured for scooping or capturing the product. The electromagnetic surveillance device is integrated with, embedded into or attach to the body of the scooping device. The electromagnetic surveillance device may be an EAS, Bistatix, RFID, or other electromagnetic surveillance tag or label that is configured to respond to an electromagnetic signal such that the presence of the electromagnetic surveillance device is detectable. The detectability of the electromagnetic surveillance device provides an anti-theft feature to the container without interfering with the construction of the container.

  • Patent number: 7112356
Abstract: A high-barrier liner for a composite container that is compatible with the use of RFID devices in the container includes a paper layer having an outer surface for attachment to an inner paperboard surface of a body wall of the container, and a metallized film attached to the inner surface of the paper layer, the metallized film comprising a polymer film substrate having a vapor-deposited layer of metal applied to one surface of the substrate. The liner also includes a heat seal layer disposed on an opposite side of the metallized film from the paper layer and forming an innermost surface of the liner. The metallized film can include a metallization-promoting material coated onto the substrate prior to metallization to improve the uniformity and continuity of the metal layer. The metal layer of the metallized film can have a protective coating applied over it.

  • Patent number: 6196408
Abstract: A release strip for tubular containers is provided and includes a tab portion. An elongate portion of the release strip is releasably adhered to an outer surface of the tubular body of the container with a first adhesive application. The tab portion extends laterally from the elongate portion and is separately releasably adhered to the tubular body with a second adhesive application to prevent the tab portion from being inadvertently snagged. In one preferred embodiment, the tab portion includes an opening therein having an advantageous shape including an arcuate section having at least a predetermined minimum radius of curvature and a substantially straight section opposite the arcuate section, thus allowing sufficient room for accommodating a consumer's finger while maintaining requisite ring strength.

  • Patent number: 5713484
Abstract: A two-piece plastic container and removable cover is provided which is particularly adaptable for containing flowable products. The removable cover comprises a one-piece molded generally circular cover having an annular sealing projection extending generally downwardly in a perpendicular direction from an outer periphery of the cover and an annular locking projection extending generally upwardly in a perpendicular direction from the outer periphery of the cover. The container comprises a one-piece molded cylindrical body having a closed bottom and an open top. Two spaced concentric annular inside and outside projections extend longitudinally upwardly from the open top of the body of the container and define therebetween a cover sealing cavity for receiving the cover sealing projection and cooperating therewith to seal the cover on the container.

  • Patent number: 4469547
Abstract: Improved spin-bonding apparatus is disclosed for connecting a synthetic plastic end closure member to a composite container body wall, including an axially displaceable spinner member that is operable to an axially extended position in which it is rotated relative to the stationary mandrel by the rotatably driven spindle when the mandrel and spindle are in an initial axially spaced condition. The spinner member continuously supports the inner periphery of the sealing fin as the mandrel and spindle are displaced axially together toward their adjacent spin-bonding condition, whereby the sealing fin is protectively supported prior to positive spin bonding thereof to the synthetic plastic inner liner of the container body wall. The stationary mandrel is provided at its free end with a unitary sizing portion having a closely toleranced cylindrical surface for causing the free extremity of the container body wall to have a circular configuration.
