  • Patent number: 5225836
Abstract: An electronic filter for filtering an electrical signal. Signal processing circuitry therein includes a logarithmic filter having a series of filter stages with inputs and outputs in cascade and respective circuits associated with the filter stages for storing electrical representations of filter parameters. The filter stages include circuits for respectively adding the electrical representations of the filter parameters to the electrical signal to be filtered thereby producing a set of filter sum signals. At least one of the filter stages includes circuitry for producing a filter signal in substantially logarithmic form at its output by combining a filter sum signal for that filter stage with a signal from an output of another filter stage.

  • Patent number: 5182906
Abstract: A gas turbine engine has a forward rotor, a row of fan blades radially extending from the rotor, and a core turbine engine located rearwardly of the fan blades and rotor and coupled to the rotor for rotatably driving the rotor. An outer annular nacelle surrounds the rotor, fan blades and core engine. An inner annular splitter fairing is disposed rearwardly of the fan blades, surrounds the core engine, and is spaced radially inwardly from the nacelle so as to define therebetween a bypass air flow duct located outwardly from the core engine and rearwardly of the fan blades for producing thrust upon rotation of the rotor and fan blades. A hybrid shape spinner nose is attached about the rotor and projects forwardly therefrom within the nacelle and forwardly of the fan blades.

  • Patent number: 5134108
Abstract: This hydrogenation catalyst comprises a major amount of the oxides of a first metal selected from copper or zinc, a second metal selected from chromium, molybdenum, tungsten and vanadium, and optionally, a minor amount of the oxide of a promoter metal selected from the group consisting of manganese, barium, zinc, nickel, cobalt, cadmium, iron and any combination thereof provided that the promotor metal is not zinc if the first metal is zinc. The average particle diameter of the powder is from about 6 to about 20 microns; and the particle surface area is from about 20 to about 70 m.sup.2 /g.

  • Patent number: 5080718
Abstract: A pigment of irregular-shaped particles is described which comprises crystallites of the empirical formula A.sub.x B.sub.y C.sub.z wherein A and B are different; A is cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium, iron, manganese or any combination thereof; B is aluminum, chromium, molybdenum, iron, vanadium, manganese or any combination thereof; C is oxygen, selenium, tellurium or sulfur; x is 1, 2 or 3; y is 2 or 3; and z is greater than 3; the crystallites have an average size of from about 75 to about 600 Angstroms; and the surface area of the pigment particles is greater than zero up to about 20 m.sup.2 /g. In one embodiment, when the pigment contains a mixture of copper oxide, iron oxide, manganese oxide and no chromium, the pigment contains no more than 10% of manganese, and when the pigment contains copper oxide, chromium oxide, and manganese oxide, the pigment contains up to about 5% of manganese oxide, the mole ratio of chromium to copper is no greater than about 1.3 to 1.

  • Patent number: 4732538
Abstract: Air control means in a gas turbine engine having a variable pitch rotatable airfoil and means for varying the pitch of the airfoil are disclosed. The air control means comprises a platform fixedly attached to a radially inner end of the airfoil. The platform is generally positioned on a rotatable annular surface, which surface defines outer and inner spaces. In a first position, an edge portion of the platform substantially conforms to the annular surface. In a second position, the edge portion is displaced radially outwardly from the surface thereby allowing fluid communication between the outer and inner spaces.

  • Patent number: 4440539
Abstract: To convey particulate materials such as grain to a top central cavity of a large container such as an on-farm silo or bin, there are provided a first auger-containing flexible roof-mounted conveyer section having on its receiving end a guide, a cooperating ground-adjacent auger-containing conveying section, keys and dogs on the augers cause the auger in the second section to drive the auger in the first section, and hooks and pins for securing the two sections together. Preferably, the apparatus further includes carriage for the ground-adjacent conveyor section. By making the roof-mounted section of suitable length to accommodate the geometry of the silo or bin, any of a great variety of bin geometries may be accommodated with the use of a single standard length of ground-adjacent conveyor section, which affords considerable economies to the manufacturers, distributors, and users of such equipment.
