  • Parenteral combination therapy for infective conditions

    Abstract: A method is provided for treatment or prevention of an infective condition having an inflammatory component. The method comprises parenteral administration of an antibacterial agent in an antibacterially effective amount, in combination therapy with a selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor in an amount sufficient to provide systemic anti-inflammatory activity. Also provided is a parenterally deliverable pharmaceutical composition comprising an antibacterial agent and a selective COX-2 inhibitor together with one or more excipients.
