  • Publication number: 20220190664
Abstract: The thermal management system for in-slot cooling of electric motors includes separating structures, either in the form of a scaffolding structure or a monolithic winding structure which is placed in between the adjacent winding turns to physically separate the winding turns to define coolant fluid passages for circulation of a coolant fluid in direct contact with the lateral surfaces of the winding turns. The scaffolding and monolithic winding structures are made from an electrically insulating material and are filled with a dielectric fluid that serves both the coolant and the electrical insulator between the winding turns. An end-winding organizer may be positioned at two end regions of each stator tooth to provide a curved surface for the winding turns to be held in tension throughout the 180° winding end turns and is formed with grooves to define the passage for the coolant flow to ensure that the flowing coolant reaches the surface of the innermost winding turns.

  • Publication number: 20110020862
Abstract: The consumption of organic solids with anaerobic digestion to generate usable gases including methane is made more efficient by maintaining the ideal digestion temperature, which is attained by combining the anaerobic digestion process with a halogen digester which produces heat energy and hydrogen gas. With a given biological feedstock four outputs can be generated (methane, hydrogen, electricity, and heat) in the ratio that makes the most economical sense. The process also provides a significant reduction in volume of output solids. The halogen oxidation process can be used on all the anaerobic digester effluent to extract more energy and oxidize a wet feedstock. If there are solids which are not easily digested with the anaerobic process, these solids can be diverted to the halogen digester to derive more energy from the feedstock. Pathogens common to other anaerobic digester effluents are removed.

  • Patent number: 7611163
Abstract: Described is an interior trim part for covering an airbag, which may include a two-dimensional carrier, a surface decor and a foamed intermediate layer. A through-opening for the airbag is recessed in the carrier, and an inlay covering the through-opening is applied into the intermediate layer, such that the inlay projects beyond an edge of the through-opening on one side and there, in an overlapping region of the inlay and of the carrier, serves as a hinge for an airbag flap formed by the surface decor and the intermediate layer with the inlay. Furthermore, with a folding open of the airbag flap, an energy amount which is dependent on the intensity of an opening impact of the airbag, may be absorbed by way of a release of the intermediate layer with the inlay from the carrier, away from the edge in the overlapping region.

  • Patent number: 7544121
Abstract: A ventilation unit for a motor vehicle passenger compartment has an air feeding channel and an outflow area. The outflow area includes a first and second component that can be placed in different positions relative to each other. Various closing surfaces of the first and second components are variously positionable in relation to each other to produce air flows of differing angle into the passenger compartment.

  • Publication number: 20090005296
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and means for ammonia and/or ammonium transport in a variety of organisms, including mammals, yeast and plants. In particular, the present invention is related to the use of isolated polypeptide molecules, which are particular members of the aquaporin superfamily, and isolated nucleic acid molecule that encode such polypeptides in the transport of NH4+/NH3 across a membrane.

  • Publication number: 20070096578
Abstract: A rotor for an electric machine includes a rotor core constructed of magnetically-permeable material. The rotor core may include a first cavity having a first curved end portion and a second cavity having a first curved end portion disposed adjacent the first curved end portion of the first cavity. The rotor may also include a permanent-magnet cluster. The permanent-magnet cluster may include a permanent-magnet layer that substantially magnetically isolates a portion of the rotor core disposed inside the permanent-magnet cluster from portions of the rotor core disposed outside the permanent-magnet cluster. The permanent-magnet layer may include one or more permanent-magnet pieces disposed in the first cavity and one or more permanent-magnet pieces disposed in the second cavity.

  • Patent number: 6651998
Abstract: The invention relates to a hidden safety covering for an airbag arranged behind a inner lining part (1) which consists of at least one supporting part (5), of a foam layer (4) and of a decorative layer (3). In an area which is delimited by a weakening (5′) of the cross-section and/or by a material separation (5″) in the supporting part, the material of the supporting part and at least portions of the foam layer can be removed before the airbag (2′) unfolds from the effective area thereof (7′), and can be brought behind the inner lining part, for example, into a capture chamber (8). To this end, the removable portion of material is preferably connected to a traction strip (10) which can be actuated by a traction device that can be initiated by a sensor.
